Sounds more like they are just trying to sell what’s available first

Pros are allocated to dealers by the regional distributor.

I'd put money that your dealer wants one on the lot so they can bilk a sucker for more than your order price.

I'd call Toyota corporate and let them know what happened. Once they confirm it wasn't canceled go back to the dealer and ask why they lied to you and let the price drop begin.

This was the first thing that came to mind to me as well. Hopefully just a misunderstanding and they aren't pulling something shady. If so, find a new dealer.

Are we all going to just wake up one day soon and it's 2023?

I was just at the local dealer for an oil change, and they did not have a single, new Tacoma on the lot, in any trim. Not one. Sales guy said that their allocation is pretty much sold for the foreseeable future. Crazy.

They are probably cancelling all production until they can get the second keys out to the owners of the 2021 models. Still waiting on mine! All kidding aside, I can't see them cancelling a whole year of production of one of their most popular trucks!

That second key is no joke. I lost the key a couple months after picking mine up while 1000 miles from home and with no spare. The truck was too new to get a knock-off made by any local shop. Had to shell out almost $600 to get one made at a dealership.

They announced the 2022 TRD Pro with promotional shots of the new color. It would be ridiculous to cancel it, especially for a conservative company like Toyota.

Finally got through to the sales manager. He said Toyota was not going to take orders for TRD Pro series and they are going to only give dealership allocation based on the dealerships sales quantity. That's a lot different than what I was told yesterday. From what he said I'm assuming the 2022 will be just harder to get than before. The model is definitely not canceled and I just had a lot of lies told to me yesterday. I am on the list still for a truck but just may not be exactly what I ordered when it comes in.

You placed a deposit for a wish and hope that the dealer can get a 2022. You didn’t order one. I wonder how your dealership is the only dealership in the nation that has pricing for the 2022. Not how they came up with the price. Even though they do have mark up from invoice they aren’t going to take a chance and lose any money off MSRP on a TRD Pro

I put my deposit in on a 2022 and at the time ordering had just opened that week. Pricing had not been released so my deal sheet reflects 2021 pricing(msrp - $500) and stated that it could increase to 2022 msrp.

They do that all the time with hot vehicles, dodge did it with the trx, you have to go to the dealer and pretty much start a bidding war on the one they have on the lot.

What makes more sense, they sell it to you for msrp or sell it on the floor for 30 percent over msrp.
