2022 TRD Sport and Remote App info?

Just traded my 2019 for a 2022 and didn't get much info on the remote app. Does it require a monthly fee? If so is it worth it? I installed a remote start module in my 2019 and it worked flawlessly. What advantage is the app over the add on module?

 

The toyota app is free for the trial. You can remote start your taco with your key fob.

 

You should have a 1 year trial of Remote Connect, then $8 per month after.

IMO, remote starting through the app is hot garbage. I can be on a strong wi-fi signal and it will take multiple attempts to remote start through the app. I actually uninstalled the app a while back. I mostly work from home but 2 weeks ago I was at work in the office and it was hotter than satan's asshole so I decided to re-install the app, so I could remote start and get my a/c running before getting out to my truck. I noticed the app got a redesign so I was hopingit wasn't just cosmetic but nope, still took 3 tries to finally get my truck to remote start. Once I got to my cooled off truck, I uninstalled the app and I'll never reinstall it again.
