I just ground the dust caps and not the wheels (either or both would work). I pulled off the dust caps and used a side grinder to reduce the caps diameter until it easily slipped into the wheel. I did not take pictures. I did not grind the dust cap flange just the body, if that makes sense.

Yes, on mine the wheel needed to be forced off and the dust cover came off the truck and was lodged in the wheel.

Is this a problem on Gen2's as well? I notice both you guys have Gen3. Not really sure why that would make a difference....

Is there any reason to do this now? I mean if the wheels are on what do I gain by taking them off to see if the dust cap comes off?

I would want to know if that dust cover is being pulled off the hub. So...I think there is a reason.

No not really, I would just like to know if I had a problem or not so I would check them now instead of when i go in for a rotation.

    Thanks for the update, Dustin.

With the rest of life's challenges and demands, I don't have the capacity to make these wheels work. They were purchased with the intent that they would be a headache-free upgrade.

I am willing to wait for the issues to be sorted, with my order on hold, if that's okay. I'm not in a rush for the wheels and do believe they'll be stellar.

Most definitely! I will take care of you.

We have already stopped your shipment and we now have a solution for the Hub/Dust Cap issue.

We have sourced a local machine shop to get them right, and all Wheels going out for 4x4 fitments from here on out will be machined and test fitted before shipping out.

So, we will get your wheels back and send you a set that you won't have to worry about.

As for you guys who's orders have already shipped and don't want to mess with grinding down the Dust Caps, we will send you return labels to send the wheels back to us:
    • If you would like to cancel at that point, we will refund you
    • If you still would like to go with our wheels, we will send you a machined set that will fit without issues
Anyone who's order hasn't shipped yet, you don't need to worry. Your wheels will be machined and test fitted before they ship out to you.

Anyone who has made modifications yourself, I can approve additional discounts for the inconvenience.

As for the Caps. We have confirmed the OEM Caps do not fit. This is another production level error, and unfortunately we cannot correct this on any of the wheels we already have.
So, for those of you who already bought caps and cannot return them, we would like to buy them from you. We will pay you back for them and send you shipping labels so you can send them to us.

Additionally, I am looking into sourcing some logos that will fit and will more closely match the Bronze Logos that some of you have posted about.

I hope these solutions will be satisfactory enough for everyone, and I look forward to rectifying this whole situation.

Once again, I truly apologize for the inconvenience.

    -Dustin

So Dustin, does that mean that wheels produced in the future will be able to use factory center caps? If so, can I wait for one of those sets?

I am waiting to hear back from the factory on this and see if it can be adjusted in the future. I should know in the next couple of days and will let you know what I find out.

If it can be remedied, it will still be around 90 days or more before we would actually get them. Not sure if you would want to wait that long.

Thank you Dustin and your company for doing your best to make this all right. It really shows and I really appreciate it!
I have received my wheels and I have the 3rd gen 4x4 model. I haven't opened the box or anything yet so if possible I would like to get them sent back to you, machined to fit without issues and sent back to me...if I understand that correctly. My truck isn't here yet still so I don't mind waiting to make sure the wheels fit without any issues. Shoot me a PM if you'd like.
Thanks again for taking care of this.

Yessir! You did understand it correctly.

We will send you return labels for you to send them back, and then we will send you a set that is good to go!

I will PM ya and get it rolling. I appreciate the kind words as well.

great response Dustin. Cant really ask for much more than that. I'd be curious to see what you come up with for replacement center caps. The "Toyota" one on black were a huge, huge, huge, selling point for me. I will say I would not have pulled the trigger on purchasing them without the OEM center caps "working on them".

I am at a weird point where I installed them, -I didn't want to wait any longer because I've had these BFG KO2s patiently waiting to go on the truck, so this upgrade was both new wheels, and 33's. I paid 200 to get everything mounted yesterday, and another 130 today for an alignment. I don't want to do this all over again multiple times. not to mention whatever $, but my time is also valuable.

In a perfect world, I'd want the corrected wheels without hub issues and with the center caps I want. But now I'd have to fork out a ton of cash to unmount them, send them back, yad, yada, yada, so now it's tough to determine the best course of action. fitment wasn't really a big issue for me, but man those center caps!! I need them in my life. (the definition of first world problems....)

I got my wheels/tires mounted. They look and drive excellent! It is not ideal to have to grind my Tacoma to get the wheels to fit. But heck, what is a little grinding amongst friends. Here are some pictures.

Man that looks clean! I appreciate you sharing, and I appreciate your understanding.

Shoot me a message, and if you like, I can work out an additional discount for your troubles.

Dustin, here's my take.......In general, I always want more aftermarket support for our Tacoma's. And I want FSW to be successful and keep producing wheels for the Tacoma. With new aftermarket products there's an inherent risk that some issues will pop up. It's warming to see you "stepping up to the plate" to make things right. That's admirable and a behavior I also want to support.

With all that said, I'm not requesting an additional discount. I'm happy that things worked out.

P.S. I'm naive when it comes to the stock center cap, so the fact that that stock center cap does not fit is immaterial to me personally. If I wanted to use the stock center cap and even already purchased them, I might have a different opinion. :)

This is a total mess and I’m sure it’s not been fun to deal with but I really appreciate that you guys are making it right as best you can. I’m fortunate to have a 2WD 2nd gen so no grinding for me. I couldn’t wait any longer though so I’m at the shop getting them mounted right now. I am seriously interested in the solution you guys come up for the center caps so consider me on that list. I was able to have the dealer cancel my order for their center caps thankfully. I appreciate your help Dustin.

Those look really clean, good color choice!

I'm good with the wait. I don't really need these wheels until Spring 2023.
