Sadly looks like it is. Was looking to switch but maybe too rich for my blood.

Never buy a first year redesign no matter how shiny that new penny is. Let all the people that don’t have that knowledge about first year redesigns deal with all the gremlins. Been proven time and time again, can already see all the posts now with the complaints. It has this whine, this vibe, and this is leaking.

I bought a 2016 Tacoma on November 6 2015, very early model. I have never had a single problem. Even when there are problems on early builds it affects relatively few trucks.

Granted it will vary by location, but when I inquired at my Simi Valley, CA dealer they told me at launch they will come with a $25k mark up. I would guess that overall they will be less conservatively priced than they have been in the past as well.

A local Toyota dealer (Toyota Direct) has a $3000 mark up on every vehicle. I was told it's to keep people from buying from them and taking it next door and selling to CarMax for a profit. With taxes I'm not sure that works..

Yea, that seems like an odd course of action to assume people would be taking. Its supply and demand, they need to just call it what it is. They are not fooling anyone.

don’t know about that. When the 2016 Tacoma came out there were so many complaints about the truck just look at some of the comments on the Tacoma board back in 2017.

Yeah I was a little disappointed, but I understand that is the real cost of a truck now because steel and everything is way up in price.

An SR5 TRD Off Road CrewMax 6.5' is going to be 53k-55k base

1 good thing is the SR5 TRD OR package is $2,090 (Limited is $3,085)

From reading this forum since the 3rd gen's release I'm confident that the majority of 2016 Taco owners disagree.

On the flip side is resale. There will be a limited supply of used vehicles with the newest body / engine (which is almost always the most desirable.)

The little lady picks up here brand spanking new Bronco 2 door today which has a proven drive train (used in many different models) although it's a first year [new] design. I'm willing to bet it'll hold it's value as well as any 2021 Toyota.

Additionally the advice of "just wait another year" isn't helpful for many buyer situations. For example my 2004 Tahoe with 195,000 miles needed >$4,000 with of work which wasn't going to fix all the squawks with that truck. Another year of ownership could've easily cost me $6k that I couldn't recover.

191,000 Tacoma's were sold in the US for 2016. You gonna mine a few hundred serious complaints here on TW? Many of the complaints are Friday-esque forays like todays gem about water pooling inside a new 2021 Taco.

..and since I'm spamming this thread I'll get back on topic. If I had a decent beater I'd consider selling the Taco and getting on the waiting list for a base model Tundra. The OEM twin turbo would be worth the parking headache when visiting city dwellers!

Was this one that was already being delivered to the dealer or were you able to call the dealer and talk about trim, custom options, and features for your truck?
