Can I put new rims on my 07 without sensors?
Inherited a sweet 07 Tacoma last week. Tire pressure lights been on but not bothersome. Stock wheels but who knows how many tire changes in it's life.
Got a good deal on a set of 2022 rims with good tires last night. The guy took the sensors out to put back on his 2022 with new rims and tires.
Will these work om my truck without sensors?

TPMS is not a critical function. People ignore the light and just check pressure the old school way.

Take care of your frame and underside! Don't let any rust ruin your truck!

Yes they’ll bolt right on, if you have steel wheels and put aluminum wheels on you will need different lugs. Here’s a pic of 2022 wheels on my 09.

Went to local Discount Tire store and they would not balance and mount my tires without sensors. Quoted $60 bucks a piece for new sensors. Plan b, take them to a small, no name brand shop, and keep fingers crossed.

    All stock, baby!
You can get new “same as factory” TPMS units from the Denso website for less than that. If you were buying tires from discount tire, they will normally install them for you at no charge. These things should last for a decade or so, why not pay the $120 or so and have a little peace of mind?

I ended up with a small leak not too long after having my tires installed, and I was thankful for getting the alert that the tire was low.

The tires have 10k miles on them, the fella I got them from kept the sensors. Funds are a little tight right now (it's hunting season), and I plan to get new MT's in the spring so that's when I'll need to get the TPMS.
