    Hi All,

I purchased a set of 2022 takeoff wheels/tires from a local guy that removed them from his stock TRD Sport 4x4 truck. He said the tpms sensors were in the wheels and that his new wheels/tires already tpms installed. When I take my truck to the tire store they can't link up the tpms to my truck. They said their computer doesn't even register the sensors at all and that I'll have to take it to toyota. Is there anything about the newer sensors that would cause this or is it really just a Toyota issue to fix? Or maybe the sensors arent really in there?

If I need to buy new tpms sensors, which ones are recommended?

The TPMS sensors in your new wheels may not be compatible with your truck, damaged, or not programmed to your truck. If the tire store's computer can't register the sensors, I think the sensors are not compatible with your truck or they are damaged. You can try taking the sensors to a Toyota dealer to see if they can program them to your truck. If they are unable to program the sensors, you will need to purchase new sensors that are compatible with your truck.

I recommend going with the OEM sensors from Toyota*

    Cheers,
    Solomon

3rd gen to 3rd gen, the sensors are the same. Oem sensors will cost the op big money. Plenty of reliable sensors you can buy that are $1/3 the price of oem.

Do you have a picture of the valve stems? Most oem wheels will have an aluminum sleeve visible on the valve stem. I think they changed them is 23 as mine looks like a normal rubber valve stem but still has a sensor on the back side.

I would have a tire shop break the bead and check what sensors the wheels really have. A dealer is going to charge you to check with their scanner.

I called shop back asked them to take a tire off and check the sensor. The guy that sold me the wheels/tires lied. There aren't any sensors. Lesson learned. Now I am in the market for sensors.
