I typically don’t drive my truck for going on two weeks in a row and I rarely trickle charge it, it does not have battery drain issues. There is something parasitic somewhere.

Make sure that you don’t have some type of tracking device installed by the dealership for tracking deadbeat customers.

Here in California lots of dealers install a KARR alarm and say it’s an upgrade to your existing security system, but it’s really just to help out the repo man.

Even with the Karr sticker on window, dealer still denies they installed one- or disabled it.
I still blame it on the Karr alarm. Some of the wiring is still there. I'm 72 yrs old & can't look up under dash to see if the box is still there. 2 places load tested the battery & said it's ok. I can't find anything else that could have run down battery. Headlights go out on their own, leave a door open & interior lights go off after a set time.
I am still considering battery replacement. In the desert, batteries die all the time. I can buy a Autozone battery & if it fails anytime during the 3 years, they will replace it. You can even carry it in & they are everywhere & are open 7 days a week. Dealer won't accept a battery not in your truck. I can go to Autozone & be out in 30 minutes. Dealer? 6-8 hrs, even with a appointment. This would have been a shitshow if this battery had failed while we were on vacation in mountains. At least a 2 hr drive to a dealer & if it was a Saturday afternoon..........
I will have someone remove all traces of the Karr alarm, probably the same guy I used on my 2nd gen.

2 months ago, we went to Hawaii for 16 days. Truck & wifes Avalon sat in garage the whole time.No trickle charger on either. Both were fine when we got home.

It disables that remote- not discoverable. Therefore a thief can’t use your remote to start your truck and prolongs remote battery life in the process.

I only use it at night/overnight

I just bought a 2023 TRD Sport manual and had the same dead battery issue. First morning after bringing it home, the battery was dead. No indication of anything on the dash-it was as if MIA. I charged it up and then hit the dealer. Same thing: Battery in good condition and no error codes thrown.

I park it in a heated garage, and the battery was fully charged. It was driven 90 miles to my dealer the day before. I took it home the next day with about 300 miles. I have a little under 2K now and haven't had any battery problem.

You shouldn’t have to, but should this come up again, I’d at th very least ask for the readout in the battery test, or take it to a good independent and ask them to properly load test it.

Do a search on Karr alarms- dead battery & starter issues.

If it's a Panasonic, they are very high quality batteries. I'm still on the original ones in both my 2015 Taco and 2016 Honda.

So- since picking up truck from dealer, battery has gone down twice. I called again to verify there's no alarm on my truck, even though there's still a button under dash & Karr sticker in window. They said no. I charged up batter & took it to my stereo shop & they removed this. Said it was hooked up & fully functional. Liars! I taped the window sticker to the box. He said it had a short & was draining battery. I'd believe him before dealer. All they do is lie. And before someone says "Why didn't you remove it yourself?" I'm 72 & disabled, so getting under dash is not possible. I trusted dealer to be honest with me. I will never go back there- ever!

Nope- they had 6k worth off add-ons over MSRP I refused to pay for, including the Karr alarm. I told them to remove it from truck while we were signing loan docs. They said they did, they didn't. It did cost me to have alarm removed.

I was suspicious too,,,, almost always aftermarket stuff causing issues like this,,, not that the factory electronics are perfect.
You should bring your bill from the alarm shop and that mess of shit up there to talk to the sales and service manager. They'd probably rather get kicked in the nuts than to give you a free oil change (that you wouldn't trust them to do anyways) but if you have time, I would at least call em on their lies.

My wife is taking the lead on this. I'm too volatile & yell.......alot! She will get more done than I will. We are retired- we got nothing but time. She would park herself at entrance with a sign if they give her shit. I'd just go to jail. LOL
After service, they always send you a email after asking for a review. I blasted them. The service manager has called twice now, I let it go to voicemail. They seem concerned. LOL I forwarded the responses from dealer to my wife to handle. We will see what happens now. Probably nothing. My wife knows how to deal with people.

I find it odd the Toyota has no name on battery, no barcode, no date, nothing, Just a black generic battery. I had stereo guy load test the battery again and battery is still fine. He sells Interstate.

It's been a few weeks now- I swear removing that Karr alarm has my truck running better. It idles smoother, plus- it starts every day now!

Now the funny part. Dealer called me yesterday & said they did some research & said they now agree my truck had the Karr alarm installed! Well, I can sleep at night now knowing I was right all along. They told me I could bring truck in & they would remove the alarm at no charge. I said you had your chance to remove the alarm when I brought it in w/ dead battery. I told them alarm was already removed on my dime. She offered me a free oil change as compensation. I said no thanks. She offered a credit towards any future work not covered by warranty. I said no thanks. She offered to send me a check for the $80 I spent having it removed. I said thanks. She's also giving me the free oil change anyway because it should have never came to this. Sort of a win I guess. Best part was them admitting they were wrong.

At least they admitted fault and followed up, that is FAR more then most places would likely do nowadays.

The dealer should have offered you a cash reimbursement, not a free oil change FFS!

Remember, there is no "free oil change". I would consider that useless as trust is something earned, not compensated for.

If they couldn’t locate the alarm, I’d be hesitant to let them change the oil. Good on them for admitting they missed it though.
