Would be interesting to see a General Motors engine in a F1 car.

 

I live 4 hours away and go to Vegas here and there. I looked into it early on. Way overpriced for everything. Tickets, hotels, restaurants. Very limited mobility once inside your area.
Nothing compared to an actual race track like Austin. Last I check it would be about 3k for the weekend. That’s not including a ticket for the race.

 

Gotta agree with everyone about Vegas. Unless you're willing to spend big bucks it's just not worth it. It's a flat street circuit so the viewing options are going to suck. I went to the Singapore GP and it was one of the worst ones I've been to as far as sight lines.

Here's my order from best to worst of ones I've been to:
Austin
Silverstone
Indy
Singapore

 

That would be a Ferrari/Fiat engine then, no?

 

I feel like Liberty wants Vegas to be like the "Monaco of the Americas", glitz, glamour, gambling and the proximity to LA will bring in all kinds of celebrities. I'll be curious to see how the grid walk turns out for poor Martin.

It's been 10 years since I last made it but I would much rather go to Austin instead. Even the first year where the track was barely finished they put on a pretty good event and the view from our seats at turns 9/10 was great, picked up the cars coming around turn 8 and saw them all the way through the hairpin and down the long straight into turn 12. Plus a big screen right across from us to see the world feed.

 

I feel like the Vegas gp made Austin prices drop. Even Costco is selling 3 day passed for 300. Almost tempted to go again at that price.

 

Damn, I had no idea they were so cheap. I may have to get out there again for it. The last time I was at the Austin GP was when it had the torrential downpours.

You're probably right.

I don't know what the teams are afraid of - it will be at least a decade before they are competitive. Look at Haas - and they have Ferrari in their corner.

 

Dilution of the money pot. Loss of control of some of their prospects.

 

I hope I'm wrong but I've written it here before. FIA can authorize 30 teams but Liberty Media will say no. Andretti would be really good financially for Liberty and they could tell the teams that another team is being added. Why won't they? My guess is one or more team's are "influencing" individuals within Liberty. I'll let your imagination work on how they may be doing it.

 

Toto has made it very clear what he expects another team to bring to the table in terms of long term financial gain for all teams.

 

Most likely, but… would be interesting to see if GM wants to join the engine game.

Toto can have all the opinions he wants. AFAIK Toto and other team bosses get to have opinions and can make recommendations but they don't actually have a veto. I think Liberty, the commercial rights holder for F1, can say yes or no as they please. Financially they should. So why don't they?
