My 2015 Tacoma and Rav4 both were hard to see when I wore polarized lenses unless I cocked my head to one side. My 2023 Tacoma does not.
What changed in the newer displays?

I'm guessing the style of cover/touch receptive coating they put on it. When I put a glass protector on the radio face it went back to the rainbow/oil on water look with polarized glasses.

    Could just be the angles.

I wear polarized glasses too. I get very little off my current window tint. I used to get much much more from older vehicles I’ve owned, maybe the way the tint and the screen is made has seen progress too?

I still get ripple on my tinted front side windows but the display is totally fine. An engineer friend suggested that it is an Oled display. Above my pay grade.

    Found this simple explanation
"OLED stands for organic light-emitting diode. Unlike standard LED TVs, which use a backlight to produce colours, OLEDs produce both light and colour from a single diode or pixel. Their ability to be self-illuminating means they produce 'real' blacks."

    4 run, 2 don't
    Display change that's all.

That's why you can't see the numbers at the pump on certain gas stations and others you can; not every device uses the same display.

OLED panels tend to be considerably more expensive than LED. it seems unlikely that Toyota would be putting those in trucks.

I seriously doubt they are OLED. Regardless, yeah, it's a thing. Chalk it up to science. I dunno... It's weird. I've experienced the same thing, including someone wearing the same pair of polarized glasses not seeing a rainbow effect and I do.

I have issues with polarized lenses on several displays. the one that is most annoying is, the fish finder sonar screens, on my Lowrance units. need the glasses to fish, cant see the displays. LOL! 1st world issues. Ski
