I am onboard with all of these changes for the most part. Rain tires on short tracks will be a shit show but why not. Everything else with this sport is out the window it seems. Other than that, the not having to be in the top 30 in points to be eligible for the playoffs could get interesting. Might see someone back into a win and get in but why not.
I wish they would open the final 4 for the cup up to at least a few races. This whole thing of a season comes down to one race is just a shit show. If you want the drama let the true champ be the person who earns the most points overall for the season and let the playoff be for like 10 million bucks or something. You can still have your playoff but that's how you end up with "champs" like the 22. No one can respect that!

That will be awesome to watch! They need to ditch the caution flags and stages all together. They can still hand out the points just stop halting the race to do it.

I'm kind of with you. The first time they try new stuff is always a shit show, but what's new I guess.

I'm also kind of with you about the championship, but I'd reverse it. You make the first race of the playoff and elimination race as sort of a last chance qualifier, every round after that is 3 races, including the final round.

 

Well this approach of us agreeing is not going to be much fun this year. JK.
At least they are making changes and seem to be heading in the right direction. I suspect the chase format will be updated for 2024. Denny and Jr started being vocal about it and they carry a lot of weight with the fan base.

 

I am loving this whole Jr late model gig. I mean the SOB still can’t win a race and it’s all about marketing and selling merch but it’s getting eyes on it.
I want someone to start a series with 90’s era cars with updated safety at tracks like Rockingham. That I could get behind!
SRX is a cool idea but the cars are so fucking ugly and I want to see larger tracks.

 

Well, I will be posting some good pics from the 500. My son just surprised me with tickets for all the infield prerace festivities, garage area, pit road, all that good shit.

Yeah. I suspect a lot of the limited changes they're making may become more widespread across several tracks if they are successful.
