I haven't followed wrasslin since 1998. I do have friends who are deeply into it, especially the local underground scene. I bump into AJ Styles from time to time.

Yes. I too love the Ric. My brother in law has an awesome story from when he met him back in the 90s.

But I digress. This is a NASCAR thread

My preacher friend has a funny story of bumping into him late-night shopping at a suburban Food Lion around Charlotte years ago. Flair was not in the mood to chat as he was deeply studying the nutrition facts on cereal boxes and simply whispered from the other end of the aisle "NO."

Those who don't run well tend to be since they don't have reason to be arrogant. Prime example are guys like Timmy Hill or Michael McDowell. Guys that are down to earth and everyone would cheer for if/when they do well.

You called that. That was my thought too... But I did have a hope for another Chevy driver......
    Ok you forced my hand.

My brother in law worked as a bellhop at the Sheraton Virginia Beach... Ric and some other talent stayed at that hotel when they did a show in Norfolk in the mid 90s. He drew being Ric's bellhop and did his job professionally without fanboying out( he was indeed a big Flair fan). When he got everything set and was about to leave Ric stopped him and asked if he knew who he was. My brother in law stated simply "yes sir Mr Flair I do." Now he was curious... Wanted to know why he didn't fanboy out like every other bellhop he seemed to encounter. He told him "I have a job to do, I'm sure you don't wanna hear it and you put your pants on one leg at a time... Just like me." That truly intrigued Ric. He asked my brother in law what time he got off, and invited him to the bar for a beer after he finished. He took him up on it and Ric and him had a regular man conversation. Ric told him it was rather refreshing to have someone treat him just like a regular guy.

I took this advice to heart years later when I myself had the opportunity to card Hulk Hogan when he came into the gas station I worked at and bought 2 cases of Busch Light.

But again... This is a NASCAR thread.
