At this point they should impound all HMS cars after each race until they pass 4 races clean. This is ridiculous

NASCAR has modified the rule book today.

NASCAR has made it so the appeals panel cannot modify penalties outside of the range listed in the rule in question and they must state their reasons for modification to the penalties. They can still rescind the penalty if needed.

They will also be displaying confiscated parts for teams to see. NASCAR can also now publish the reasons for the appeals panel modifying penalties. Previously it wasn't allowed.

I didn't listen to Denny's approach to his appeal, but he was shocked he lost it. I'm not sure how you admit to intentionally wrecking someone and then appeal and are shocked it didn't get overturned.

Tis but a bump in the road. HMS is going to innovate. Bending the rules is what makes NASCAR what it is. If they were all in equal cars it would be no fun. Every car in the top 10 has something they haven't been caught for. Chad has figured out that you do all your innovating early in the season so you know what you can get away with later. All 4 cars will win a race and make the chase. Once they do that they can use all they have learned to dominate. This is not a case of HMS getting caught. They are pushing the limits to see how far they can go later or they think some other team has an advantage in that area and they want NASCAR to look closer at them all and define it better. I doubt HMS is surprised when they get called out for something. I suspect they plan for it. Chad is also known for blatantly doing something on one end of a car to keep them from looking at something else.
Chad is also a master of playing in the gray and exploiting NASCAR not defining something clearly. They win a lot of appeals because they have the knowledge going into it that WHEN they get caught they can justify it.

 

At this rate Chase might come back and be the highest HMS driver in points!

 

He got caught How Many times on JJ's car? We all know if he didnt cheat JJ never would have been able to do what he did but still. It just gives us a Black Eye and even though it wasnt on the #5 it sort of takes away from Larsons win last week.

 

Is it really cheating if it's within the rules enough that you don't get caught?

 

Chad cheats, all the good crew chiefs do. I am not debating that. All I am saying is HMS has proven to be ahead of NASCAR for years. It’s stats, they get away with a lot more than they get caught for. In this one, NASCAR has it out for them because they are pissed they got the points back. Just that. HMS will take there lumps. And they will continue to push the envelope.

 

Shocker that Larson starts on pole. Genuinely shocked AD starts 2nd though.

 

I saw someone suggest a dirt road course. I'd be here to try it for a year. I'd certainly be more excited for that than this Chicago street race.

They just amended a couple this week
