At the request of NASCAR, Kaulig's penalty from Phoenix was modified to match Hendrick

 

Gotta be consistent when it matters and Happy was not. I'd support modifications to the current system, but I don't miss drivers having a good first 10 races and just coasting the rest of the way.

 

Kyle Busch has actually won 4 Championships in Cup the last 8 years, but they don’t really want to talk about that.

 

Could go a different direction, regular season champion gets the bonus points and first pit stall selection throughout the playoffs despite advancing or not through stages/rounds whatever the call it.

 

LOL, I don't enjoy drivers running like shit in all but 5 races and being deemed the champ.

 

It has to not come down to one single race to decide it.

 

i like the playoffs. Every sport has them and that's how it should be. The top teams/driver makes the playoffs. You have sixteen in but everything resets. Reduce the playoff chase to say a more bracket style (16, 8, 4, 2). You lose and you're out. Last man standing wins.

 

Can't make the next round if you're not consistent when it counts. It's much easier to make it to the next round when you do well before the playoffs start.

 

Most forms of motorsports do not have a playoff though. To many variables to make it decent.

 

I would advocate for flipping the current format to have the first round being a LCQ lasting one race and every other round being 3 races.

I also want to see the throwback race be a run what you brung deal where the teams have to actually bring a car that raced during the decade they choose! That would be awesome!

I think what you are seeing from RCR with the 8 team is the future of what NASCAR sponsorship looks like. Brands that have local ties to an event or area who are willing to pay a big price for one race or a handful and that's it. More teams are going to be piecing seasons together than seeing the same big sponsor all the time. These companies are not willing to drop 20-30 million to be on a car for a season and cannot justify it. RCR is making some moves in the industry after being stale for a long time. I feels like they are coming back around.

 

i'm ok with that. I was maybe just surprised when they announced sponsor partnerships for the 8 car this year. As you mentioned, one race sponsorships are great for the sponsors, the owners, NASCAR and of course the fans.

Next to Lucas Oil, this may be my favorite paint scheme so far this year... Now, i'm off to Lionel Racing to give them more money for diecasts

 

That is the thing. I expect RCR is making more money on these small partnerships on a weekly basis and it drives a lot more sales of merch. It is not nearly as stable but as long as you perform and have a marketing team that can keep them coming in. I expect it is lucrative.
