Oh, that's part of racing forever. It's the "You're #1" sign, according to AJ Foyt.

Do you know how hard it is to hack an encrypted radio frequency?! And you're telling some hickseed hillbilly racist from the South managed to figure it out... For the express purpose of telling some black driver how he feels?!

Not buying it. Sponsors need exposure... What better way to do that than to stir up controversy. Just like the "noose."

Now... I'm not saying it's Bubba... Doubt it is... But I'd bet all my salary for the remainder of this year someone higher up is trying to use who he his to stir the hornet's nest.

Think about it... What is all the social media talking about today?! Not Kyle's domination.

Just like Ross last week. Controversy sells.

I don't think HE is the one seeking the attention... I truly believe all he wants to do is race.

I do believe however... There are puppeteers in the background of his life that want to utilize his social status and who he is to drum up notoriety for their interests.

I thought it was him until recent interviews. He's just an average driver to me that don't want to be seen for who he is.

Respectfully disagree. Bubba is the spokesman for his own brand and is driver of the 23 for 23XI.

I will bet your salary that Michael Jordan nor Denny Hamlin have any comment. This is 100% Bubba shenanigans.

Whether it happened or not, isn’t as relevant to Bubba playing the victim card again

I'm thinking it's some marketing/publicity guy in the background representing one of his sponsors, seeing how much clickbait the Ross thing generated and looking to cash in on it.

That what this smells like to me. Just too convenient to be Bubba's doing. I doubt he's slick enough for that. Those who watch professional wrestling like myself tend to be able to sniff out a created narrative.

Still don't mean I like the guy... Just think this ones over his pay grade.

It probably came from the NASCAR tower! I mean, people are just not that racist in the south. No more than anywhere else really. And in that part of the country MJ is a god. Like literally, you are not going to find hate for MJ or anyone affiliated with him in those parts let alone the Carolinas.

why would you say it when the race is over and not fuck with him all throughout the race. It sounds like some publicity stunt because some liberal fuck was like “we are in the Deep South and people hate negros here”. What a crock of shit.

people for the most part in that area respect everyone who is a functioning member of society. And even the black people dislike the black people who play the race card. Just my experience growing up in those parts.

If it’s a ‘marketing’ gimmick whoever is responsible for it should be fired and stoned.

Can’t see that getting past the big wigs at 23XI

Hey guys, guess what, I have a funny idea!

    Nope!

I would also bet they're walking a fine line to avoid the backlash and black eye they (NASCAR as a whole) took with the knee jerk reaction to the 2020 incident at Talladega.

I'm interested to see what more information comes of it.

Well, given that this is literally my job I can tell you that’s not what we do at all. The business side of this stuff is so buttoned up and sterile and everyone is afraid to step on toes. No one would last long if they were doing Machiavellian crap like that. Entire businesses and everyone affiliated with them would go belly up overnight. There are waaaaay too many hands in the pot for each of these teams for some marketing guy to say “hey let’s spend $100,000,000 and just be trolls for the LoLs instead of competing.” There are plenty of far cheaper ways to get Jimmie’s than this biz. God, sometimes I wish it were like you think it is because it’s more buttoned up than a home-schooled kid at their piano recital. It is so NOT FUN that I intentionally leave my fandom at home when I go to work and just play dumb. They don’t know I’ve been crawling around race shops since I was a kid, or all the other neat stuff I experienced in garages and infields through my childhood.

It just doesn't make any sense that nobody heard it on the teams radio??? Being in the Fire Service for 40 plus years Paid and Volunteer. When something is said over the radio on a busy fire scene somebody hears it. Now you are talking one teams radio and no one heard it???

Maybe NASCAR just made it up to take the attention off the fact that he just flipped the bird in a live televised interview.

That's the part that gets me and I'm interested to hear what comes up. Who heard it and why wouldn't the team have heard it? Unless of course it was on one of the backup channels that the team wasn't monitoring at the time.

He has done nothing but stain nascar the last few years.

I used to not mind bubba, hell I pulled for him to do good. Then he reached into his pocket and pulled out that race card, ever since then, I've had more use for a coiled up rattlesnake. He's a piece of shit.

This is just me spitballing but I don't know how encrypted they are. My brother got a NASCAR scanner recently and it was an older model which was pretty complicated to operate and has A LOT of settings, but the instructions are online too. It didn't seem that there was much more to getting the channel than knowing the frequency (which you can find online), programming it in, and playing with the other miscellaneous settings to fine tune it. You needed to either be good with playing with stuff to figure it out (which is what most of us do with technology anyway) or know a thing or two about radio. I would imagine one of these people could have easily found a way to tinker or program to the point of figuring out how to talk back. I'd guess they were trying to impress their buddies thinking nothing would come of it. There's really nothing special about the scanners, particularly the ones you would have to be at the track to use. Most of them even have talking features. Granted, it's meant for you to be able to talk between you and your group of friends, but still.

Many of the first responders in our area use digital 800 mhz radios. Most of those channels aren't encrypted and all you need is the right code to program in to allow you to listen in. Get the right radio and you can even talk back (ignoring the huge amount of trouble you could get in for doing so). You can even get radios that allow you to listen in on FAA frequencies. All of this without any sort of internet connection and just using the actual radio frequencies.

Again, me just spitballing. I could be way off base on some of that. I'm curious to see what they actually find.

Yeah, it's very doable with a HAM radio and a strong enough broadcast. I'm speaking outside my knowledge here because I haven't taken the HAM exam, but if you get on the right frequency, with enough power, you can transmit. Yeah- you're in violation of the FCC and there is big trouble if caught. Some website posted a How To article yesterday but it's since been taken down. I think it was Racer.com. I have a HAM radio but keep it set to the FRC band until I'm licensed (Hopefully in October). I used it as a scanner until the local PD went to encrypted digital signals. I can still listen to EMT and hospital chatter, and they share a LOT of patient info over those public frequencies.
