My bad. You are correct. Seems like this would always be a tough find. Especially so if buyer was unwilling or able to compromise. Best of luck with the scavenger hunt

Down to 3 on CarGurus. The 2 in Michigan are not available, not sure why they still show up on inventory.

I think it's Cars.com that shows a new 2016 RC SB Silverado listed at some dealer. Maybe they still have it for sale. Getting a 4.3 v6 does sound appealing in 2023.

Cars.com is less up to date. For instance, I called Kerry Toyota 4 days ago and all of their manual Tacoma were sold a while back. Yet, it still listed as available on Cars.com.

Cars.com is fed by the dealer inventory management systems.

90% or more of the new C8 Corvette listings are custom sold orders. Their stupid system still feeds cars.com, autotrader, etc.

Toyota dealers probably do the same shit.

Just an update, drove 450 miles today to pick up a a new puppy, went by 4 dealers and not a single 4x4 crew off road or trail on the lots, only a handful of used ones. All the dealerships website shows inventory(that’s not actually there). I know how to find vehicles, I buy a couple every year, last purchase came from 1800 miles away. Just pointing out how even now you can’t go to a dealership and actually sit in a new taco and check it out. Usually one would want to see a lot with different trim levels, colors, options...those days appear to be long gone. I thought all the rate raises would fix this but inflation is stubbornly holding on

Not sure if everyone watches this video, it includes info about it. It has Turbo Charged 2.4 liter engine with 280ish HP.

I have 2023 , I was wondering if I should just trade it but I am cautious knowing that first two - three years of new gen has some issues.

Cool thing I noticed is that IT COMES WITH GRILL LIGHTS lol. I guess they've been watching people putting it as modification and now it comes with it.

They are hard to find in SW Florida, there are some but not many, I was looking for a Tacoma SR Access Cab 2.7 4x4 and found one that was listed as in transit, I made a deal on it to secure it and it took 9 days to get to the dealer. I have tried to buy this same combination two other times at the Autonation Toyota dealer in Ft. Myers, the first time they had the truck on their lot back in 2016 but the sales man just refused to even write up the truck and we were serious buyers ready to drive it home that day. Ended up with a Ram 2500 instead because the Toyota would never even try to sell the vehicle to us, I guess they were in love with it.

Fast forward to 2020 and we found a Tacoma SR Access Cab 2.7 4x4 at again Autonation Toyota in Ft. Myers, it was on their website so we put a hold on it as their web site allowed you to do that and went in the next morning when they were open to see the truck and buy it as again this was what I was looking for. This time they told us sorry we don't have that truck.

So twice we tried to buy a Toyota Tacoma Access Cab 2.7 4x4 and twice Autonation Toyota in Ft. Myers let us down.

This 2023 Tacoma Access Cab 2.7 4x4 we got from Gettel Toyota in Punta Gorda and like I said was an in transit vehicle. So finally after three tries we were able to purchase the Tacoma access Cab 2.7 4x4.

But how many are actually on the dealers lot, Gettel Toyota shows they had 51 Tacomas but only had one actually on their lot all the rest were listed as in transit which means they may never reach the dealers lot unless someone buys the truck.

I just purchased a 2023 Tacoma Access Cab 2.7 4x4 and it was listed one of the 51 available but it was like the other 49 shown as in transit. Only one was on the dealers lot.

Yester day Gettel shows only 45 Tacomas yet still only had the one Tacoma on their lot.

If only that was accurate but it is not. While they may claim there are that many on lots I can tell you first hand that is a lie. Gettel Toyota shows depending on the day they have 45 to 51 Tacomas yet they only have one on their lot all the rest are listed as in transit.

Accurate in what way? I never said here are over 5000 sitting at a dealer waiting for you to go buy it. I said there were over 5000 for sale and the OP will need to do the leg work.

That also does not mean your dealer in your region will have access to all of those vehicles. Toyota has a very strange distribution system they set up and never really updated it. I live in Florida and that puts me in the Southeast Toyota area, it is not as simplistic as you are making it out to be.

So again, as I originally said..."do the leg work to find one not spoken for and be willing to travel". It is extremely simple. There is nothing to stop you or anyone else from contacting a dealer in another state or region and working out a deal on your own. Not sure why a local dealer would even need to be apart of this.
