I was in that boat too. Looking at everything from casitas to opus. I know what comes with a popup and it knew i might have issues but I was prepared with research. It has some fit and finish issues but has been solid with overall and nothing from ruining a trip. I am very happy because it came with everything I NEEDED and nothing I didn't. I have several buddies that have built trailer campers and in the long run they are always a ton of work and usually turn out more expensive in the long run.

@LeFreakyBone - I was at Carrizo plains last week. (If that is the Soda lake you are referring to... ). The trails that go closer to the lake are closed due to mud. Very soft, mucky sticky, sloppy, DEEP mud. The kind that will take your boots... I saw people getting tugged due to sinking only their front end in the mud... The lake is there in all its glory though. - You can get around the area on other (dry) trails.

I'm looking forward to some time off and heading off on a wander, adventure, quest, or similar endeavour.

Tempt me! - What areas do you have on your list?

I imagine with the recent coverage of the super bloom in carrizo it'll be busy this weekend. "Like ermi'god the space station took a photo and like i was in it, hashtag ISS famous"

This is what happened when I went there just 2 months after I got my truck. Some places the signs says for 4x4 but turns out to be skinny as heck with sharp barbs on either side. Good luck.

    Yikes!
    Thanks for the intel!
*Note to self; bring shears, :)

If you got your truck new (2017) when you went there, things may have changed. I expect there to be burn scars in the area.

it was super busy around Soda Lake. My buddies and I drove in a little further into the Caliente and Temblor ranges and we had a blast flying FPV quads and wings.

looks much less muddy than it was a few weeks ago thats fer sure. Is it the distortion from your lens or were the roads you were on off camber that much?

A little of both I think. Some of those roads were pretty goofy.

Today having MT tires was better than all-terrain tires. The wet snow cleared out better.

Welp, this thread has been too quiet lately, so here's some stuffs.

Just got back from Cow Mountain and now my truck looks like @TacoBe11, just as promised!
I had brung my janky Ryobi 40w chainsaw to clear brushy trails, but the chain jumped the bar almost immediately, and my tools to fix it were packed behind everything. So I plowed on. Otherwise I had a very good time 'poaching' moto trails on my mountain bike.

Then a couple shots from Usal last month, thanks to all the enticing pics from the area posted above! I missed all the elk, but the place was awash in different birds- cue the arrival of a bald eagle posting up on a tree directly across the river from me. When I figure out how to post a vid, you'll be disappointed by my iphone's terrible resolution.

Pic for those of you still here!

Last weekend I went snowboarding at Mammoth and June and camped in Bishop. Hit a trail nearby. Bashed through some snow but had to turn around when there was more. Since I was alone I didn’t want to risk getting stuck. On my way back down I ran into another Tacoma with a GFC camper, curious if he got through.

Nice trip! How were the temperatures? I imagine it was cold at night.
