I posted this in the white paint thread but thought it might not be isolated to only white trucks since it came from the factory this way. I bought this truck new. When I got it home, I noticed a smudge on the bottom of the rocker panel. That smudge turned out to be the gray primer. I rubbed it with a rag and the paint came off on the rag. It's the same on both sides of the truck. If your paint has a tacky feel to it use some rubbing alcohol on a rag to see if any comes off.[IMG] [IMG]

I wonder if it’s just white…. Seem like white has all the issues and recalls. Thanks for the heads up to the white taco drivers

Yikes, almost looks like someone noticed a screw up and tried to fix it either at factory or dealer. Is that super white paint?

    So this is odd:

I have a 23 ice cap white as well.

My rockers looks like they almost have too much paint on them. Like the rockers have an extra 3 or 4 heavy layers of white paint. I'll try and see if I can capture it in a photo.

I don't remember the thread, but there were some other white tacomas with the exact grey showing through in the rock chip area that was wiping off and tacky.

Lots of issues reported with single stage white paints Toyota uses. Definitely a trip to the dealer and a paint defect claim.

That's intentional. Tacomas have a thicker, bedliner like, paint on the rockers... for rock chip protection.
