Just for the hell of it i priced out a plain jane 2023 SR5 tonight like the one i bought end of december . Pricing courtesy of Toyota.ca online msrp which I assume is accurate or a reasonable estimate . It is now 2k more than i paid and I thought i got a decent deal . Both of my brother in laws have tacomas and they agreed with me on that ( at least in this low inventory climate ) .
The one I purchased was on the lot , I test drove and made a deal . It was supposedly someones cancelled order . I actually went to look at another truck they had .

Perhaps these increases are a Canada only phenomenon but if they are not is it just a matter of time before no one can afford a new truck .
Keep in mind this has been posted on my second scotch of the night so there is the possibility of slight inaccuracies and perhaps a lot of spelling mistakes .

The internet doesn’t say and I can’t recall. However I was shocked that Anheuser-Busch paid 107 billion for SAB Miller. That’s some serious cheddar.

I agree ! I’m in BC Canada and ALL trucks are through the roof now.. if the Tacoma didn’t have such a great resale value I wouldn’t have put deposit down on my incoming 2023 OR Acess cab … I was reviewing 1/2 ton market too before deciding but here the Ford and Ram are just insane compared to a year or two.

Mostly greed. While some inflation is the norm when the economy is booming ( jobs galore ) the rate we are seeing is manufactured inflation.
The good news is what goes up must ( and will ) come down.

I understand there is some 120 million barrels of oil glutting the market. Supply has far outpaced demand, and they expect oil to drop to $40 a barrel.
Will we see a reflection at the pump?
Will we see a reflection for food prices and everything else?

    Pffffft, don't hold your breath.

    Rejoice - Capitalism lives.

I checked this out earlier. A 2023 model exactly like my 2022 cost $2,000 more now MSRP. I paid sticker last June and was indifferent about it. Now I’m glad I got a 2022.

I haven't seen any bargains on anything lately. I miss the days of getting a new car for invoice.

I agree, just seems about the the same for every other increase. Go enjoy your truck and lock it up when you’re done.

Trucks are overpriced because that's all people will buy anymore. In a market of unlimited options, the people have decided that we want one of two vehicles. We either want a full sized four door truck with a 5 foot bed, or a wheeled toaster that's just a Nissan rogue under 20 different brand names.

Sorry, everything else. It's either toaster or man-wagon with an open air trunk.

Good. I hope that those things do become unaffordable, so that we're reminded that there are other, more interesting choices out in the world.

    It’s not just trucks.
I bought Wildpeaks 2 years ago for $161.00 each. They wore out way fast (33k) so I went to get new ones. $218!
Insane. 30% increase in 2 years.
