I'm coming from a Ford Ranger that had more issues and issues that were more severe. So no.
And so far all of my issues with the Taco have been the lack of power and transmission that hunts for gears like the Donner party hunts for chicken mcnuggets. Nothing is broken (knock on wood) and I have learned how to drive the engine better (keep those RPMs up in the TP/TQ range).

Personally, I think expecting the latest and greatest on a truck thats been relatively the same for the better part of 7 years was kind of foolish. I really did not like the trans in my 23, but for me, the ShiftSensePro has been a big improvement. Yes, my truck with under 2,000mi has some things that occasionally go "WTF?" like the stupid windows rattling when down and the rear end making some noise, but its a truck and its under warranty.

I thought your screen name was familiar, I remember it from other site.I did the same thing as you, and traded off the ranger for a taco. Had never ending issues with ranger, much happier with the tacoma now!

I really like having both in my garage. The Tacoma for the bed, the 4Runner for trips. The 4Runner is awesome on the highway, as the shifting is smooth... like an 8 speed transmission? Funny enough, the mpg is -1 less with the 4Runner (same size AT tires).

I wish I had a 2023. I could wash it and not worry about the paint falling off. My white 2021 truck has the white paint problem Toyota is supposed to repair in the future per their letter.

Well technically if i could I would buy brand new built 2003 4runner, or brand new built 2010 Chevy Tahoe. Why? Because old trucks were simple and had big beefy engines.

I can not do that, so I went with most old school truck on market, which is Tacoma. Let me remind you that next year Taco won't have naturally aspired V6 anymore. So no, I do not regret buying my Taco.

Toyota has gotten greedy and lost its purpose, which was making cars/trucks for everyday people. Not for fat and dumb who pay 60K+ for truck that has 4cyl, or 90K+ for sequoia and Tundra.

Imagine paying 60K+ for Tacoma, its not Ford, Chevy or GM, so why

I don’t understand the comments about no power. Does your skinny pedal not go down as far as mine? Or do you expect it to have more low end torque?

Power is definitely not lacking. But then again every damn truck is different. Mine never had shifting issues in the transmission nor the stuttering, missing, or other engine related problems.

I push the throttle on the highway my truck speeds up without downshifting. My friends Tacoma has to downshift. You pass in his it is a rather curious affair. Push push push on the skinny pedal and nothing and then bam downshift. In mine you start the pass at 70 75 mph and simply pushing the skinny pedal the truck speeds up and by the time you’re past the car your passing your well past 90 95. Sometimes it might downshift but often it doesn’t.

Handled Refugio Tejos pass in Chile at over 19000 feet with no issues. That’s a fun climb up.

I’ve never known a lack of power in my truck. Mine was built on a Wednesday. I always heard Mondays and Fridays were bad days. Maybe I have a reverse lemon.

Insane. Wonder what the prices will be once the hybrids and trail hunters/trd pros show up. Are people really going to shell out $70k+ for a Tacoma?

Msrp on a 2023 TRD OR was pushing the boundary for me. They are going to lose an entire group of customers with prices like that.

Depending on the price you got your 3rd gen for it’s possibly the most fun for the money. Not gonna fly as quickly as a ranger with turbo , or be a monster truck like tundra . But with a few aftermarket fixes (reinforce subframe, add mid travel front , and SUA 62” deaver rear with high clear inverted rear shackles), lockers and 33-35s , you’ll have a truck that can mash through woops , slid over rocks and drive thousands of miles on road trips with out costing a million bucks in fuel. Not to mention, even if you forget to change the oil or literally not service anything it’ll probably still keep running, just like day one. Not sure you can abuse any other truck that bad for the money. All depends on what u want a truck for ? Whale on it mercilessly without breaking the bank = Tacoma

Dude, spend the money and get the OTT tune. It seriously is a night/day difference and makes the truck enjoyable to drive now.
