Should we take bets now on the dealer saying it's "normal"? lol

Seriously though, as I'm sure you've figured out by now, these truck seem to each have their own individual personalities. Some gear hunt more than others, some are noisier than others, some vibrate, some don't. They are quirky things to be sure, but they will get you from point A to point B dependably for a long time if you take care of them. Far from perfect and IMHO overpriced (as are most Toyotas), but as a rule dependable and trouble-free.

Totally agree with that. They each have their own quirks and personalities

FWIW - I have a '22 OR and noticed what I would have called an intermittent "rough idle". Turns out it has something to do with the AC. AC Off - smooth idle. AC On - Intermittent "Rough Idle".

It's what the dealer told my buddy on his 2019 tacoma, some vibration, and engine roughness was normal. It's just the way these trucks are. They don't want to deal with these piss ant mass produced issues. One has to realize that these tacoma's can't be manufacture all exactly the same. You're going to get good, and not so good ones. Sounds familiar like, ford and gm, but still better.

Part out. I’ll take the rough idling engine.

The 3.5L is designed to "clean" itself while in drive when stopped for a while. It's a dieseling type design. That is completely normal. It will sound and feel different. But that is only when stopped with foot on brake for a little while. Like at a stop light.

Mine does it without being in the cleaning cycle. Same as my 2018 and my 2015 that didn't have the cleaning cycle.

Mine is very minor thought. I would even call it a vibration, more of just feeling the motor running a bit. but again, I feel like I am a bit OCD about this stuff.

I've always used top tier fuels from the time owned. This engine is as smooth as my 4.7 tundra was, only with more mechanical sounds when the hood is open. I haven't noticed any cleaning cycles yet that I've become aware of....truck always sounds the same.
