Yes but Toyota made waste space around the board. There are minimalist fobs out there which slightly bigger than the board size.

Some cars have credit card-like card that you can use it to un/lock the car.. Tesla for example.

Smart handle and PTS are great for me.

Interesting that you're having trouble with the handle. The only time I've remotely had an issue is when trying to open it way too fast. But that's only happened to me 2 or 3 times. Usually it unlocks without issue in the normal time it would take me to grab the handle and open it on any other vehicle.

They make ways to start the vehicle with a dead battery in the fob. You also get a warning about the battery being low well before it's dead enough to replace. If you get to the point where your battery is so dead you have to resort to the method needed when the battery is dead, it is more of a user error on your part.

I might be doing it wrong. This thread made me go look up directions so I will try a few different methods. I thought I was doing it right but now not too ssure.

    Standard key is more reliable.

I am under the impression the push-start get stolen more because it's easier to clone de signal.

We are getting very close to manual being a real anti thief device... I would have got a dclb manual sr5 with a key if I could.

Next up - oil. I’m thinking about going with Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Full Synthetic 0-20W after watching that Project Farm youtube video. :D

Push button start has been around for a while. One of my Honda S2000s is a 2000 model year, manufactured in 1999. Push button start. I’m sure it wasn’t the first either.

Maybe the people complaining about it should head to the 60+ thread…?

Yeah I provided a link to the tricks to starting the truck with a dead push button fob. But nobody reads my posts very closely in their hurry to rebut lol.

My work truck has PTS, it will also shift in to park when you open the driver's door. That makes it hard to get out while it's still in gear and moving.

I wouldn't mind the start button just for consistency. About half the time I get in the wife's car I have my truck key in my hand looking for a place to put it.

Meh. My Lotus, BMW, and wife’s Audi have it. I kind of like the simplicity of not having it on my truck.

Using push to start with a dead battery is about the same difficulty as using an actual key. You hold the fob next to the button and push the button.:notsure:

The push to start vs. key argument will only go away once they get rid of the key on all trim levels, probably in the 2024 4th gen. I do wish they could do away with the whole foot on the brake to start with the other redundant safety features.

You don't grab the handle to lock it. To lock you tap the three little lines on top left of the handle.
