2023 SR5 Trailer Harness Connector

Is it possible that my 2023 SR5 2.7L would already be wired with a trailer harness? I see an empty plug near the bumper, but I suspect that might be for the back-up sensor if so equipped.

What would the trailer harness connector look like?

Thanks! Yes, I do have that fitting in the bumper, but of course it's empty like your first picture. The harness above looks like it's separate from the harness in the back of my truck, so I assume the wiring isn't there. Does that plug/harness connect to another harness nearby, or does it route back independently of the other harnesses?

 

It's not a separate harness to be sold and added by Toyota. But you could assemble one and run it along side the vehicle one.

 

Ok, thanks...I was initially trying to determine if the wiring might be there, and I just need a pigtail with the plug, or if I have to wire it completely.

 

Remove the driver's side door sill, then the kick panel. Look and find this:

It's the towing stop n turn left, stop n turn right, parking/tail and ground. (flat 4 pin towing)
You can purchase the mating connector, terminals and wires to run from there to the underside of the driver's seat, outside then along the vehicle harness on driver's side to rear bumper.
The one meant for the 2nd Gen fits nicely...

The short pigtail can be modified to fit the missing 7 pin connector.

 

T12 side would substitute the flat 4 from the 2nd Gen harness.

Your 2.7L doesn't have the tow package and thus does not have a built in wiring harness.

You will need that universal 7/4pin that fits in the rear bumper next to the licence plate as well tho.

 

I don't think the 4banger 3rd gens have that under the dash

I have used CURT products for tow hitches and wire harnesses and I like their options. I installed their harness on my 2018 Tacoma. Completely plug and play using the plugs in the tail lights. No splicing of any wires. Hardest part was routing a power wire up to the battery. Worth checking out their website.
