I'll honestly never understand this attitude. Who wouldn't want a capable vehicle that's more economical to operate?

Better fuel economy means you go further and spend less money to hit the trails.

You are not going to get 18-22mpg with a Tacoma anymore because you joined TW.

Are you resetting lie o meter before going down a hill and reading at the bottom or several 100 KM?

I never understood, why some such as Consumer Reports would rate a pickup's m.p.g. the same as a passenger car. Would you compare a cars ability to haul or tow to a pickup if so, all passenger cars should rate at the bottom of cargo. All classifications of vehicles should only be rated in which class they are designed. For example, if the best mileage of any full sized pickup is 25m.p.g. then it should be given top honors for fuel efficiency and the rest of the field lower.

Alright, let’s rate pickup fuel economy against other pickups. The Maverick Hybrid gets 40MPG highway, it gets top honors for pickup fuel economy.

Toyota can do better, is my point. And I don’t know why we wouldn’t want them to.

Several months ago there were rumors of a small pickup (called the Stout) based on the rav4 or Corolla Cross. We have a rav4 hybrid and a pickup based on it would be awesome. Haven't heard a peep since.

A small Toyota pickup and they don't call it the Taquito!?

But no seriously, I'm genuinely looking forward to the small truck market coming back. Vehicles of this size are unwanted by a lot of us. We were just forced into them because of the state of the US car market.

I filled up this morning before the drive to work. Mostly highway, don’t think I got over 70. A few minor hills, but nothing crazy. It’s no Prius, but can get decent mileage if you’re conscious about your driving.

‘21 Limited, no mods, for those curious.

    Requirements for my next vehicle;
    AWD/4WD
Able to carry 4 adults in relative comfort
Able to transport various "stuff" up to 1500 lbs
7.5 l/100 km or 31 mpg combined fuel economy
Less than $40,000 can + tx.
No pickups out there meet all these requirements but a rav4 hybrid + small utility trailer will.

Honestly? Not sure. I can get 24-25 pretty regularly, but that 26 was a first for me. Usually by the time I need to fill up again the computer says the tank average is somewhere between 20-22, which is still better than most.

How someone will buy a vehicle knowing the mileage ratings beforehand, and then turn around and bitch about the mileage is something I’ll never understand.
