Fuelly or other fuel economy sites are a much better resource for getting an idea of real world gas mileage numbers. They are usually based on a very broad number of drivers over millions of miles under various driving conditions. Much better than visiting a forum, all of them are the same and reading about someone taking a snapshot of mpg for a few miles driven under ideal conditions. Sure its obtainable but not sustainable.

From my experience I have noticed that by driving any car @ 2,000rpm I have saved a ton of fuel consumption..go up the miles little by little without exceeding the 2,000rpm and you will see the difference…try it out for a week

No money, all went to truck...
It's been pretty cool here in Hawaii, haven't been using the AC all that much, mix of city and HWY and I've gotten 20MPG for the last tank of 87 gas. Pretty stoked on that.

'21 DC LB - Just did a 5700 mile round-the-US-for-the-holidays trip...averaged around 17-19 highway, but the truck was fully loaded. I've found altitude makes a huge difference as well. Higher=better. Average around 19 city and 21 highway here in Northern AZ, but as soon as I hit the flatlands (east of the Mississippi) it drops significantly. Pedal commander also makes a huge difference.

This is what I pretty much see as well after every fill up with my 2023 TRD Pro. 2000 miles driven on it so far.

While I absolutely love this truck, the only thing I miss about my 2020 Ridgeline was its gas mileage. But now I can crawl on rocks, while towing and deploying a T@G XL Boondock to get me into the back country.

    I'm right at 20MPG - 19to 21ish. Running 91 Octane.
Dropping to the Low-O will put me at 16MPG real quick.

Is 91 octane recommended for this rig? I never looked into it.

Recommended? I've never heard of it being recommended. Most newer vehicles are flexible enough to consume all three grades of octane.

Our other cars, '17 Mustang Ecoboost, '21 Supra 2.0, and the '19 Ranger I sold to get the Taco all never specified the higher octane. But buried deep in the manual was a chart of what HP/TQ looked like on about 5 to 7 different octanes. You only got the manufacturer advertised HP/TQ at 91 or 93 octane. I just assume the Tacoma works the same way. Butt Dyno Testing and tracking MPG bore out that it is what I got the best performance from.

Your mileage may vary, see store for details, store associates not eligible for participation, not valid in Puerto Rico, Hawaii, or Guam. You know the drill.

Yeah, but I can't get half-way up an on-ramp while keeping it under 2000 rpm.

    Stock '23 4x4 Sport DCLB
I commute up and down the Cajon Pass in SoCal every day, and am averaging around 20-21 mpg across multiple tanks of gas. I usually use cruise control at 70 mph, conditions allowing, and the truck needs to hit 3000 rpm on the steep sections to maintain that speed. I'm using the ECT button recently, and it seems to help settle the gear-hunting without hurting the fuel efficiency much at all.

Considering all things, not that bad at all IMO.

Towed my small camper with bed fully loaded about 1hs 20min camping. Then back. I was pretty happy to get over 16mpg round trip. It’s when I hit interstate speeds it gets really thirsty.

Not a pic from this weekend. Just giving context.
