I Love the “tech” packages. Toyota does bsm super well imo. A real aide and not a nuisance.

    I don't want it.

But I can't believe your average used Tacoma buyer is going to be interested in cross traffic alert. They are either going to want reliability or mount a steel rear bumper.

IMO rear cross traffic alert is only going to bring pennies on the dollar for resale.

I had my last truck for 24 years (it even had a cassette player). So that’s why I held out for all the safety features and was willing to fly to get it. If you don’t keep your trucks as long and are only concerned with the resale, I’m not sure I’d worry about it. If you keep your Taco well maintained it will sell without BSM and CTA.

I'd go out of my way to find something with the least amount of "tech" possible. Its simply more stuff to go wrong and be obsolete when it fails. I could do without 90% of the crap that even "non-tech" package vehicles come with. My 2002 chevy has features I don't use.

Yes has LED package I will likely hold on for a while but depends on what next years redesign includes. I couldn’t live without a backup camera and I thought that was unnecessary at one point that’s why I’m thinking through this issue. My problem is I secured the truck with a 1k non refundable deposit just a signed piece of paper anyone know if I can get the refund still?

I'm not sure how long you kept them, or how old they were...but if you compare your touchscreen to...say, a tablet or smartphone...which is effectively what it is, those last 2 tend not to live more than a few years anymore. In 20 years, are all the "features" still gonna work right? I know the stock radio in my 2002 still works fine.

My truck is only 2 months old but the more electronic stuff you have the greater chance you have of something messing up. Just not a fan and find most of the stuff useless. That’s just me though.

My Tacoma does not have a back up camera but it's only a little more than 6' feet of truck behind the drivers seat. Back up camera is nice, but I could function with out it. The truck I drive now has a camera and sensors, seems redundant.

Just spoke with many dealers around the country, even if it’s listed they have tech packages if you call in they don’t have them and all 2023 off roads do not have it as a option yet due to chip shortages and are reserved for Rav 4 premium, TRD premiums/pros and trail editions. Crazy.

I could just guess how hard it would be now to find an access cab with those packages. It was hard enough pre covid when i had to order an access cab with much of that stuff back in 2020. Just the color alone made it impossible to find one. All the local dealers told me i was looking for a unicorn.

Bingo I think that’s where I’m at. If you plan on keeping the truck 15 years there’s no way those items don’t have issues. If you get a new vehicle every 5 or 6 years it doesn’t matter. I plan on keeping mine so I don’t like those items.

Personally I think blind spot should be standard on everything. Out of all the tech on my limited it's really the only one I value.
Turned off lane assist, auto high beam is useless and I'd rather have rain sense wipers.

Had I the option, I would have gotten mine without any tech package. Would probably hurt resale value, but f it. All the beeps and extra sounds, I'm not a fan of. How I put 250k miles on a 1st gen without these safety features, I'll never know.

Chrome bumper caps aren't ideal. You can add always replace it with a steel bumper or black or painted caps.

If you're the one driving it you aren't looking at the bumper anyway.

What ever happened to the chrome package for 23? I still haven't seen one of those yet.

Buy what you want and don't worry about what other people think. They're not making the payments. My Tacoma is as basic as you can get a TRD Sport and while it was on the dealer website people from all over were calling them wanting to buy it.

    I was actually being sarcastic

    Shouldve used the ~

but for real I guess if I had chrome caps I would’ve replaced it with a steel bumper.
