Had a TRD off road with leather and sunroof ordered for 6 months and got tired of waiting so I cancelled my order and got my deposit back. Started calling around and found this 2023 SR 4x4 V6 that was available to purchase and would be here in a week so I put the down payment and picked it up January 9, 2023. Decided to try and make it look as much like a TRD off road as possible. So far, I've added hard tri-fold tonneau cover, oem bed mat, TRD off road wheel & tire take offs, black out emblems(on the tailgate), tinted windows, TRD Pro grill and off road step bars. Not sure what I will do from here. The TRD off road I had ordered was a little over 47K msrp plus taxes and I picked this one up for 33k plus taxes and even with all the accessories, I'm still about $12k cheaper.

Those flares look great! Those are actually high on my list of mods I want. I'm hoping at some point, I will find a wrecked one or maybe someone will take their OEM ones off for aftermarket and I can buy them used. The black fender flares are my favorite part of the TRD off road which is one reason I favored the off road over the sport.

you're going to want to upgrade the suspension. after a long ride my front end would get bouncy with less than 30k miles on the struts. Stock Hitacih is just not good enough.

Fog lights, Leather steering wheel, Intermittent wipers (dont know if that was added to the tacoma SR's)

I actually had fog lights on it but removed them because the aftermarket quality of the ones I ordered were awful. From 10ft away they looked great, but up close the bezels just didn't pop in flush like OEM. Looks like I'll just have to splurge for OEM to get the fit and finish I want.

They did add intermittent wipers to the newer ones but I definitely agree on the steering wheel. I had to put a cover on it almost immediately because it feels strange after being used to leather wrapped steering wheels. So far the suspension rides great but glad you told me that so I won't immediately blame tires when it gets a few miles on it. Thanks.

I'm about to put my stock OR suspension out by the curb for the trash man. If you're in the DFW area, you're welcome to have them.

    Good looking truck!

This is the way to go! I went the same way as you did, upgraded tires haven't worried about the wheels themselves yet, added black badging and the tacoma door badge, going to eventually get some Morimoto headlights I think and upgrading suspension are my two biggest things!

    Yours looks great!

Thank you. Mine had an alignment issue with like 400 miles on it so the dealer put me in a loaner overnight while they fixed it. They put me in a 2023 TRD sport 4x4 and the window sticker was a little over 44k since it didn't have the leather and sunroof package. My wife and I both were amazed at how little difference there was between my SR and that one. It kind of confirmed I made the right choice after driving that one. Most notable difference was the larger 8" screen, blind spot monitor and the darker cloth interior. Other than that, most of the features are identical.

This is the most recent picture of mine! I now have mud guards on the front as well just didn’t have time to put them on the front the day I took the picture!

Yeah, got it used off the classifieds on a whim. I liked the truck without a roof rack so some days l like it more than others.

What do you give up mechanically with the SR vs a TRD OR? I'm sure the info is out there but I'm not finding it easily with a search.
