    Has anyone experienced this:

When decelerating, only from about 8mph down to 0, like coming to a stop at a traffic light, I hear a growl / rumble under the truck like it has super aggressive, large lug mud tires.

The truck has just over 1000 miles, it made this sound from day one driving it home from the dealer, I thought it was the tires, but it had the OEM Firestone Destination "street" rubber on it.

I didn't think too much of it, thought it was just the tires, but within a week I installed Toyo Open Country AT3 rubber, and the sound remains.

Does anyone know what is making the sound or if it is normal...?

I wouldn’t try to troubleshoot it yourself, bring it to the dealer and let them figure it out. It’ll save you time.

Probably not.... it's exterior for sure... If I don't learn anything before, I'll kick it back to the dealer when I go for the first O.C. in February. See if they have an explanation.

Hey, and update here, a little bizarre to me... I stopped by the dealer that delivered my Tacoma and asked if I should be concerned about the rumble/vibration to which SHE answered, NO, she asked how many miles I had driven, I told her approx. 1200. She then said, "well, it's takes 5000 to 10,000 miles for complete break-in" Now I know the "engine break-in" is around 600 to 900 miles and that's fine... but I never heard of this on any new vehicle I have purchased. She said if the issue persists, to notify them when I come in for the 5000 mile maintenance and they would address it.

Any thoughts on this? It's been a long while since I bought my last Toyota truck, but I didn't experience this.

    Later...

my truck does the same thing when i overinflate the tires; you can feel every downshift and it feels awful.

Thats interesting, but my current tires are not overinflated... (32psi) however I did not check the OEM pressure when I took delivery, oh well...

REVISION: I just discovered I should be using 30psi (Type B specs in the OM), not sure if 2 or 3 psi will change anything, but I will adjust and see what happens.

Yes...it's another way of saying "it's normal" and "we will say anything to get out of doing warranty work"
