Hey everyone, this is my first post here. I have a 23 Tacoma TRD sport with now 29,000 miles (I know... lots of driving this year). I just started noticing a stumble that feels like I'm driving over little bumps. It happens in high gears and is most noticeable when accelerating from low speeds in high gear or in high gear and high speeds. Most substantial around 55 mph and 75mph at around 1700rpms. At times I can even see the rpm gauge needle bouncing up and down 100rpms or so as it is happening.

I originally thought my tires needed balancing or maybe rotors. I have the rotors turned and the tires checked but both came back fine.

I've read many posts about tcm updates, reseting learn adapt, and using 91 octane fuel. Most of the posts I see are on models as new as 2018. I havnt seen them with newer trucks.

I have a service appointment this week but any insight on info regarding tsb's for 23 models or anyone with similar experience would be greatly helpful.

I'm almost certain toyota will say "normal operation for the vehicle".

    Automatic?

Push the pedal harder and let it downshift. Does that cure it?

Yeah it seems pretty specific to certain speeds and rims. Like 0-10 with heavier acceleration. 50-55mph, 75-80mph. It's less noticeable when it down shifts or when im in ect power on.

Not having any codes kinda makes it hard to diagnose but it sounds like a misfire which you probably already know that. I have read that some of these 3.5 engines have valve problems with cylinders 1 & 5.

Yeah and interestingly on my way home today I felt in coming from a complete 0-10 and the misfire was even noticeable on the speedometer gauge as well as the rpm gauge. I keep hoping I get a code and I'll at least know. I'm at like 400 miles driven with the issue and sometimes I hold the rpms to see if prolonging the stumble helps flash a code but I get nothing.

I feel for you, I hate the idea of having to take my truck to the dealer for one problem and get a back with two more. The good side of it is you are still under warranty. Good luck and keep us informed.

So I just wanted to update this thread for the sake of closure.

I never took it to the dealer. I suspect that changing out my suspension for the RC m1 front struts and n3 rears that I "feel" everything more... especially in the drivetrain. I ran 3 tanks of 91 and it almost isn't noticeable. Now with the shit shifting. I added the blackhawk 2.1 tune. Yup.... it's one hell of a truck now. The shift points are exactly what you would have expected. Torque is amazing now. I highly recommend this updated tune to everyone. But do know... it's fun now.. speed carefully!
