    Hi everyone,

I have a 2023 Tacoma with the 3.5L V6 at around 3000 miles on it. I just recently purchased an ultra gauge to monitor temps and I am seeing the engine coolant temp run higher than what I would think is normal.

It sits around 203 to 221 Fahrenheit when I am at stops on the gauge but drops when I move. Ambient temperature was 50 F when I seen it up to 221 F. The truck needle also never goes to the right or shows any signs of overheating. The lower rad hose and rad itself never get hot either, always ice cold.

What do you all think? Could this be possibly a failed thermostat or are these normal temps?

    Thank you,

    Michael

It seems a bit hot, but a scan gauge isnt exactly a known service tool. Nor are customers supposed to watch data like this.

As long as the temps drop down to 212F and moves, its operating as designed.

There is a sensor on the thermostat and if its failing you'll get a check engine light.

Don't overthink it. Check that there's coolant in the overflow and enjoy the truck.

Okay thank guys. It does drop down to 212F once I start moving.

I will continue on enjoying the truck and not overthink or find weird noises lol.
