I just sold my 2019 with 200k miles due to rear main seal leaking and traded for a 2023 as I dont like the new generation engines. Immediately noticed the doors and overall truck feels cheaper. Even the gas tank door feels poorly made compared to my 2019 with 200k miles. I'm assuming they cut costs along the way for some reason? Still happy with the truck and will never buy another brand

On paper, there is minimal difference between your 2019 and your new truck. I think this might be all in your head brother, but then again what the hell do I know.

I had a 19 (Off Road) that I purchased new. I put 250K ,miles on it in 4 years. I traded it for a new 23 (Pro) this past September. I now have nearly 90K on my 23. I haven't noticed any differences - other than the obvious Off Road/Pro differences.

I should have kept my 19 (and still bought my 23). That 19 still looked and drove like new, even with all those miles (many of those in 4WD). The only reason I traded was that they gave me such a high value for it and I didn't need any more vehicles.

I liked my 2015 but there were things that my 2023 had from the factory that I had to install on the 2015 that were a real pain to do. Such as heated side mirrors, leather steering wheel. But the '15 had a cartridge type spin on oil filter that was on the top of the engine.

Well, if you can't find a 1st gen or a 4th gen is a little spendy, a 2nd gen with a few 100k miles would be ideal, or you could just settle for a 2023. I did. It's a Tacoma, they're all fine. Just drive it.

The pandemic gave license to every industry out there to cut corners.
I bought some cinnamon rolls ( bake in the oven ) a while back and man they were the worst.
Same with some chocolate chips - like they changed the formula to something cheaper.
Package of cookies that used to have 5 cookies per layer now only has 4.
Packages of shredded cheese now 2-4 ounces less.
Rolls of paper towels that used to be 2-ply are now 1-ply.
And all these items for more money.

Here's to wishing you all good tidings of corruption and greed....

However, given what we have, and where we are at, the Toyota product in the long run will out last the Big-3 by miles.

I went from a 19 Tacoma OR to a 23 Tacoma OR and it's practically identical rig.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
I went from a '06 2nd gen TRD OR to a '21 3rd gen TRD OR and felt that overall it was as good or better EXCEPT for the wimpy 3.5 V6 compared to the 4.0 V6. Otherwise no complaints other than the explosion of interconnected technology that makes troubleshooting glitches even more challenging. Not that I've experienced any consistent glitches - just read about them here.

The truck is the same, and many of the items that are on the '23 were likely made at the same time as those made for '19.

2019 had a higher rate of cylinder head failure than any other year. It's not "High" but its more frequent if that makes any sense.

I'd take a 23 simply for the seat and carplay.

    Itz JDM tyte, yo!
I’ve driven an ‘18, ‘19, ‘21, and my current ‘22. All the exact same spec: a base TRD Off-Road with a manual. And I didn’t notice a difference in build quality?

This. Power seats become standard and they have height adjustability. CarPlay is a welcome tech to have

Bishop84 is there a number of miles that you saw the cylinder head failure at or was it just random luck? Thx

Most have already happened, seems like it if it hasnt happened, it shouldn't. I'd say most were 2 years old under 60,000miles

Well I’m safely past the 2 year old part but my 2018 only has 10k miles on it because I use my 4.0 4Runner as my back n forth to work daily . I hope I get lucky and don’t to deal with this , I bought my 18 brand new and wanted to keep it forever as my around town old man truck when I retire soon .

I had a 2018 OR DCLB that I drove for 30,000 miles before it got totaled. The replacement was a 2022 OR DCLB that now has 32,000 miles on it. Everything is pretty much the same between the two except the automatic transmission shifting on the 2022 is much better and the cruise control is much better in hilly areas.

Didn’t they change where they manufactured 3Gs at some point in the production run? No idea if that would have anything to do with it, but maybe
