Hey guys new owner of a 2023 SR 4x4....

I recently upgraded my wheels and tires to a set of TRD Offroad wheels....my issue though is they didn't come with TPMS sensors.....annnnnd in my excitement of a new truck and new wheels I quickly sold the old set on Facebook before swapping the TPMS sensors....

How can I get these reinstalled without using the dealership?

Ive called a few tire shops locally and they all balk at being able to do this because their system only shows the sensors being compatible up to 2022. I assume the 2022 would still work with the 2023.

    Any help would be appreciated.

No change in 23, 2022 will work fine. Your sr wheels where steel, correct? If so you needed new sensors anyway. Steel qheel sensors and aluminum wheels are different. You could of made them work, by mounting them 180 degrees off. But best bet is to get new correct orientated sensors.

What's messed up is the sensors changed from 2016 rims to 2020 rims, but the rim is identical on some tacoma (offroad model) because of this, tire shops are always reluctant to do a TPMS install unless they have the software.

Even my dealers aftermarket programmer only has 2022, but we are aware that they are the same as a 2022.

Personally I would skip the TPMS sensors, but I know you can buy them online if you don’t want to buy them from a dealership.

Yeah they were steel wheels.....I had no idea they would need different sensors, but good to know. I figured 2022 and 2023 would be the same.

It doesn’t bother me, but someone once suggested a bit of black tape to cover it up.

I just put a set of These TPMS sensors in my daughters new wheels & tires. They come with both rubber & metal valve stems. The shop had no issues programming them to her truck.

    Obligatory pic.
