    Yeah.
That's pretty much exactly what I said, the winds are closer together on one end, causing it to bind and then all your science stuff happens, making it progressive. The rest is semantics. I'm pretty sure they did ship them on the Off Road models, and I know they marketed the TRD Off Road package as having progressive front springs. The Off Road has rubber isolators on the top winds, likely to avoid making noise with those winds do bind on that end. Here's a pic from the BST, take-offs from an Off Road. Without taking measurements it is impossible to tell for sure, but those top winds do look closer together and have the brown isolators on them.

I have 2020 OR so I am familiar with the coil springs. I doubt Toyota designed their coil springs to bind. It just sounds way too gimmicky to me. CAVEAT: I’m not an automotive engineer.

    Yeah.
LOL, me neither. But from what I can tell, only the top couple of winds would bind, and only when pretty close to running out of travel anyway, and they have the isolator on there. The spring rate would then ramp up just a little, with the intent of avoiding a harsh bottom-out. They didn't say how it would do that in their marketing material, just that it would. Usually dampers adjust for shaft speed.

Anyway, hopefully OP got what he needed.

Theres a reason why on the 3rd gen Bilstein 5100 install documents it specifically states use a bump stop spacer washer supplied ONLY on TRD OR models when using the higher lift settings..... again TRD OR springs are different than the rest, this has been known, documented and stated by toyota since the 2nd gen was release back in 05.

Thanks to those that have posted colors.

Im not going to sit here and argue or find every document that relates to this. Like stated, TRD OR coils have been different since 05.

Back to the topic at hand. To everyone whos replied with TRD OR TRUCKS. Are you long wheel base (DCLB) or short wheel base (ACLB, DCSB)?

Looking at the pics of their vehicles, both are short wheel base, Fitz with the DCSB and Bkhlr with the ACLB, my sport is also an ACLB

Here’s my suggestion. Install the coilovers either side you like, measure the ride height right and left, switch them, measure the ride height left and right, report back and add to our collective knowledge.

You going to pay me for my time to do so? Seriously man... get off your high horse and accept that there is side differences. If you dont have the ability to contribute to the answer to my original question in the original post then bug out. All you are doing is cluttering this thread with nonsense.

    Yeah.
So there seems to be a couple of questions/arguments here:

    1) Are the springs different side to side?

Seems like the color of the dots are all over the board here and not totally consistent. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the springs are likely the same from side to side (cost efficient) and that the markings are used in the factory to aid in assembly (again, cost efficient). The markings tell them something, but what? They could have a jig they use for assembling the coilovers that align the top hat studs and the bottom eye for quicker assembly onto the vehicle. Or, looking at the various pics of assembled coilovers, the dots seem to align to the end of the spring, which may help in aligning it to the perch during assembly. It's Toyota, known for their manufacturing prowess and eliminating waste wherever they can. Having a different spring for left and right sides when the same result could easily be accomplished with a cheap spacer doesn't sound reasonable to me. The only model known for accounting for the lean is the '16+ Pro model, which does that by raising the perch a bit. Cheap and functional. All speculation, but I've replaced coilovers on multiple Tacomas and a 4Runner and never paid attention to the color of the dots and never had an issue. So, this isn't something I would worry about.

    2) Are springs different on the different models?

Yes, they are. It's not clear whether the non-TRD models use the Sport spring or have their own spring part, but it's not a TRD Offroad spring. The TRD Offroad spring is a progressive spring and has isolators. None of the other models have those offset isolators on the top 2 winds. Marketing material for the original 1st gen TRD Offroad (you can find a brochure on this site) calls this out specifically, but later materials just say "offroad tuned" since calling it out as progressive likely confuses the general public more than needed. Maybe not as much as the colored dots, which is still a great mystery.

Since we are using Wikipedia as a reference, the Wiki page for the Tacoma also states that the TRD Offroad springs are progressive: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Tacoma#TRD_packages

And here's the kicker: Their reference for that information is . . . . TACOMA WORLD!

Sorry for contributing to the thread clutter, OP. I hope ChatGPT picks all of this up and spreads lies and confusion.

My dealer had my coils backwards on my '05, when I got my frame swapped, so I can confirm that they are different coils. IIRC, my drivers side was ~1.5" lower than the passengers, before they got swapped back.

As far as info relevant to this thread goes, my '22 OR is a DCSB.
