2023 TRDOR has auto trans oil cooler with auto trans?

What people don't realize, and manufacturers don't publish, for good reason, is that there is no magic number when it comes to temps.
For the transmission, is it 221 for one second and the tranny fries?
Is it 230 for five minutes? Is it 200 intermittent? What is intermittent?
This is why we don't have gauges anymore because fluids and oils have gotten very complex, not to mention the components such as the transmission, to the point that there is no one hard and fast rule.

So true. It's like the old "plastic is bad, metal is good" mantra. It all depends on the application and which metal and which plastic.

I trust the people designing things, and the reputation of the MFG to tell me how it's going to last.

 

reassuring, thanks... I was reading the 2023 manual and it has a big disclaimer in the towing section saying the warranty is void if damage is due to commercial use. Wow, that's a grey area. I haul sheep a couple times a year in a trailer, for profit. I don't use it daily for work. I wonder where they'd go with that! Anyway, I'm probably fine as you say, push the ECT button and go. They are good trucks!

 

I have a SR5 4x4 with tow package May I ask how does the ECT help with towing. are you guys towing in D or S mode (5) ? I'm towing 2500lbs at times and I can tell its back there.

 

ECT holds the transmission in the gears longer before shifts. Dependent upon the load I normally tow in S5. If I am in a hilly area where the overdrive is kicking in and out or if it is downshifting in the fourth, I will drop it down to fourth gear and slow down a little bit

The owners manual states to tow and forth gear, With ECT engaged

 

My 2020 has one in front of the radiator.

 

2019 was the last FULL production year with the external cooler. Some early 2020 model year trucks had them, but it was eliminated by the end of 1st quarter
