I can’t believe OP spilled the beans on this insanely lucrative opportunity. If I were him I’d sell now and get on with it!

    Do you need a truck?

The question isn't how much Carvana says your truck is worth

The question is what else can you buy for 38k after you sell it

It’s the guy in the urinal next to you letting you know he might flop his junk back in before zipping back up. (Caravana is the zipper, dummies!)

This discussion underscores why I recently bought another Toyota truck... I've enjoyed several through the years, always shopped for a deal and when it came time to "flip" I've always come out ahead. I've been fortunate that none of them created unplanned expenses and basically have driven for free (aside from gas and oil changes). The CoVid "supply chain" debacle created the best flip opportunity... When there were few new vehicles on the lots, used prices went nuts. Someone that had plenty of $$$ hit me up and wanted my TRDOR 4Runner WAY More than I did.
OP is just being smart... Gotta keep an eye on asset values and have a plan ready when opportunity knocks:thumbsup:

    kbb: $40,000.

    Carvana: $45,000, best offer.

Dealer: there is a tiny paint chip under the hood that you can’t see, $20,000.

You realize you'll need to buy another vehicle....at extortion pricing...right? You won't make a dime.

They were supposed to last year but they restructured and for now they seem to be doing quite well.

Value really doesn’t mean anything with current prices on vehicles and interest rates . Smartest financial decision is to stay in current vehicle . If u have low interest rate and nothing wrong with the truck .

I think 3rd Gens prices are rising because 2023 was the last year of a V6 in a Tacoma.

I got lucky and picked up a '23 V6 with 15K miles on it last month. Looked at the 4th Gen/2024's and didn't want a turbo 4 cyl. I don't see the longevity in those past 100K until possible turbo problems.

No, my msrp was 40147. I paid 38, then 500 doc fee. I lose a bit on taxes I spent is all, and I got to drive it. I usually keep my vehicle 15 years, but I have had some annoyances that I would consider trading.

Like everyone that said I should sell my small house.

So sell it and rent? Sell it and buy a larger overpriced home? Live in your mcmansion's basement for free? Sell it and do what?
They all looked at me with no answer.

You can usually get 1500 - 2500 more out of Carmax vs Carvana. I checked my 23 Trail / 10k miles and it said 36,6. Market is about 43 on them, which is what I paid new.

You won't get 43k for your trail. You would be lucky to get high 30s for it.
