    I know.

I live in the northeast where Tacoma's typically fetch top dollar.

Looking on auto trader. 2023 off roads, sports and high optioned SR5s are only selling in the high 30s. A TRD will always fetch more money than an SR5 even if it's a trail.

But they wouldn't. They would sell it for high 30s. The days of paying new retail for used tacoma are over. Look on auto trader, you will see.

Dealers are okay make only a few grand on used.

I think area has a lot to do with it. CarGurus has plenty of low mileage used 23 Tacomas in my area both in the low $40's and the high $30's. Perfect example, a 23 DCSB TRDOR with 7,215mi for $42,380. There's also one for $44,999. Both used.

If they are high optioned TRDs then they could have been high 40s new. And how long have they been on the lot? post the link.

I'm assuming they are highly optioned. I didn't put a ton of time into searching. My particular truck stickered for just under $48k. Long story short, values are all over the place.

I see trails in my local area listed from $42k - $46k with about the same mileage as mine. My local dealer where I got my truck had a trail just like mine a month ago and they were asking 46,5 for it. It sold for close to that, I asked. Market is what people are willing to pay. I do agree that TRD’s generally hold a bit more value, depending on the options / condition.

Anyway, the point of my post is that the op can get more money out of Carmax vs Carvana. I have no interest in selling.

Soon I would assume. At least judging by how much they gave me for my Fiesta ST lol. I feel like all these online vehicle buying businesses are chasing trade volume and don’t focus on sustainable growth to keep them from going under in the near future. Take a look at vroom

Show us a link to these used trails. I'm genuinely curious.

About a year ago when we got rid of my wife’s Tucson Vroom was a few grand less than Carvana.

What we did was take the highest offer, Carmax, and went to my local Toyota dealer, they beat it by $500. Long story short, my Toyota dealer made the best offer after telling them what Carmax offered and playing the game a bit. $5500 more than Vroom.

That’s a good deal. I did something similar to land on carvana. carvana had the best offer, vroom/carmax/etc were 2-3k less, and the dealer was going to give me almost 5k less than carvana. I tried to price match it and dealership wouldn’t budge lol

Can you show us these used trails selling for 42k plus? Or let us know where so we can check autotrader.

Being the last year of a V6 may play a small factor, but the reason the prices are “going up” has more to do with the price hike of the 4th gens. If new Tacomas are more, then used Tacoma will consequently be more.

I see a few on CarGurus, but you look at the picture and you can tell it's a Sport or other trim. The actual TE's are high 30's to low 40's. And that is asking, not selling price (which no one knows but the guy who bought it).
