The 4Runner sells really well. Toyota may not do well to kill it like they did with the Land Cruiser.

It occurs to me that Toyota in general is slowly shifting away from their traditional user base. It seems that all their SUVs and cars are shifting upscale a little. I get that the competition is too. That leaves those of us looking for minimal tech and simple reliable performance and good pricing, are getting left behind.

I’m not paying luxury prices for Toyotas. They’ve always been cheap AND reliable, that’s part of the reason I’ve bought them.

Toyota got rid of the RC Tacoma & Tundra Toyota dropped the FJ Cruiser. Not that any of those were top sellers. Toyota probably wants to keep the 4Runner in their line up, but they could sell people on a TRD OffRoad Highlander. Toyota has the all ne Sequoia for those who demand BOF SUV.

The FJC was not selling well and was based off the 4th Gen 4Runner/GX470/J120. I guess they didn’t see the money in a second generation. 4Runner sales aren’t falling off, OTOH.

Waiting on a 2023 TRD sport. I just hope I like the blue crush metallic. Did the deposit and build sheet in August. I guess most buyers want the metallic grey, ice cap or silver.

A few, mainly added skids. I like leaving the suspension alone. I drive forest service dirt roafs in the desert west extremely extremely too fast. Toyota nailed this suspension going 65 across desert terrain. Changing it is dumb unless you have a specific need like crawling or mud.
It has a 2.4i who gives a shit when g4 comes out.

Removed factory bed cover and installed UnderCover Elite. Added LOCKERDOWN console safe.
Just took delivery of 2023 4Runner last month and have a 2023 2.7l DCSB Tacoma arriving next week (it’s sitting at the Houston VPC today).
My money is the next Gen Tacoma will arrive before the next Gen 4Runner. 46 years with Toyota retail experience tells me i don’t know crap.

I took a drive through my local Toyota dealer lot today. I didn't see one new 2023 vehicle on the lot. All cars & trucks for sale were trade-ins, and most were not Toyota.

Agreed on the 'luxury' pricing - non starter.... but "cheap"? I certainly never thought of Toyota pricing as cheap, ever (well not since early 90's) - phrase around here is "They are proud of them" - translation: your are gonna pay more than you will at Honda or Nissan...

My local dealer has had an average of 30 Tacomas on the lot at any one time since September, two TRD Pros have been sitting there for over three weeks.
I think people are figuring they should not be pissing away 40k plus on a truck they really don’t need

I was at the dealer last week and saw 3 TRD sports and that’s it.

Nothing here in AZ. I did go to the Phoenix international autoshow yesterday. Wow what a huge let down. I never want to hear management go off about quiet quitting again. The whole industry has quit. Looks like they are cutting costs everywhere. This used to be a packed house of every brand and even off brands, vendors, models, reps, last they had it in 2019. This time 6 brands that's it. Toyota with the strongest showing but no Tacoma (Saw the Solar octane in person, OMG it's brutal), Nissan, Chrysler, Kia/Hyundai, Ford and Chevy were there that was it. BMW had 2 cars, Mercedes and Audi had a few nothing great, no VW, Volvo, Mazda, Lexus, Genesis, Jag, Rover, Porsche, infiniti, Subaru, Tesla, Rivian etc. There were zero reps there. This used to be where everyone had to be seen.

I was there yesterday and there a single Tacoma in Lunar Rock and Rover was there as well just all roped off in a small area. Ya, that show was a let down.

Luckily someone handed me tickets on the way in. Yeah, not much effort by most this used to be a big deal. Nice to get out of the house on Thanksgiving and go for a walk. At least the GRcorolla was there which I didn't expect looks better in person. Not sure who drives the supra you have to be like 5'5 to fit in it :).

Yup, it's not like there are a ton of people lining up to buy the vehicles Toyota, and others are not building. Once people have disposed of their disposable income.

They are not going to buying higher priced mid level luxury vehicles,at high intrest rates.

Those lower cost Lexus vehicles have got to be in the worst segment of vehicles to move, with out incentives or mark ups on lower price vehicles. People aren't going to buying them in the the numbers Toyota and Lexus have been selling them in the past decade.

Toyota can't build Ravs due to the lack of panoramic roofs? Here's a novel idea build them with a conventional roof, they probably don't have those either, but if Toyota scrapped the panoramic roof, and charged 3-7k less for the Rav4. They might find more customers to buy them, it's a Rav4, not a 90k Tundra Capstone.
