Thanks for summarizing the more relevant info for the upcoming 2024 taco... i found what i was searching for about the axle ratios and more interestingly about the spin-on oil filter (good news!)... hopefully the filter access is like on a second gen tacoma...

The picture I remember seeing had it on the bottom and you had to pull the skid plate, however it was on the front side of the engine.

Filter is near the bottom of the engine pointing forward. There's a spout to direct the oil away from the electric steering rack.

None of the three types of front skid plates shown so far (aluminum, steel, plastic) have an access door for it.

@Jeff Lange do you know if the RC60F on this model will be using a direct or cable shifter? Sheldon Brown mentioned something about "it's a bit further to where the cable hooks up"....not sure if that's just a misnomer or if the new model is using a cable shift.

I figured it would be an RC60J or similar if they were going cable route.

It is a direct shifter, though it does sit further back on the transmission. It's not a cable.

Fantastic on the RC60F! Any ideas if the shifter is easily swapped?

The shifter from an RC62F would be a direct fit onto the Tacoma RC60F.

Curious about this now….do you think it’s going to be an issue with the hole in the floor? Or am I misunderstanding the location of the shifter?

You’re misunderstanding. You will remove the housing that moves where the shifter sits and install the 2016-2023 shifter, so it will be in the exact spot it is on the earlier truck.

Makes sense…when I saw direct shifter, I was thinking that means no extension and that maybe there was a new rear case half relocating the shifter further back. Good to hear.

rip, despite having the correct bolt pattern, all my 3rd gen aftermarket wheels don't have offset that's anywhere close to these wheels on 4th gen, probably gonna need to shop for some +20mm offset wheels for 4th gen

^You'll be 6" wider with the Volks! Assuming the 14mm lug nuts fit in the wheels
