First time I ever called the order. Well OK not really but I did make a comment how Ferrari had pace. Fun race well except after P4 to P1, Monte Carlo boy was just along for the ride. :anonymous::thumbsup:

Norris did choke the chicken at the start - but that pass, going to be hard to back off in serious race mode.

Max definitely has the “ahead at the apex” rule down. He is great at last minute braking from behind, claiming the apex and forcing the other driver off the track whilst all the time being inside the rule book. Turn one this race was a perfect example.

He is allowed because of the rule but I feel this rule can be and does get exploited.

    Ugh

Double pain for Lando and McLaren, losing the race and the penalty are a double whammy

Lots of conjecture about the penalties etc. Jenson Button was pretty blunt in the post-race chat.

I agree, Palmer noted that Max pushed Lando wide in the first corner and went off track himself. Max should have gotten penalty for overtaking off the track in that instance.
Max is in the position where if he and Lando collide and they both DNF he's still ahead in the championship. Win win...

Just watched last years Mexico race, Lando was flying and on a mission. Hopefully he can qualify better this year.

Jenson's point was that Max has figured out that 'ahead at the apex' is the overriding criteria. If he's first there it doesn't matter what happens afterwards. So he's essentially divebombing.
I'm not a VER fan but I hope I'm not wrong in giving him more credit than that. Although if the past is prologue...

First lap incident so the stewards won't take a look unless it's super obvious. Max is a damn good driver (I dislike Max strongly btw) and knows the rules and will go to the limit and slightly over until they change the rules i.e. on safety car restarts they're not allowed to be right next to the driver in front anymore. Nobody ever did it before Max because well it just doesn't seem fair but wasn't a rule so Max did it all the time.

I feel like a few rules were implemented due to Schumachers driving style, can’t remember what they were though… maybe leaving enough space for driver on the inside/outside and moving under braking?

One thing I think needs to be implemented is a team of full time stewards instead of different stewards at each track.

Norris, McLaren, Hamilton, and other teams and drivers are absolutely right about the Norris-Verstappen penalty incident. Norris was ahead at the braking point, Verstappen braked late to beat Norris to the apex, was unable to remain on the track himself, and forced Norris off. It will be a topic of the Mexico drivers meeting and McLaren is trying to appeal Norris' penalty. They wont be successful but that doesn't mean they arent right. That type move has been a consistent hallmark of Verstappen's entire career and eventually the rules will be clarified with Verstappen's name all over it.

Yuki gets a Red Bull test post season after discussion with Honda.

Does one pay driver replace another until a seat opens at soon to be Honda powered Aston Martin?

George is having a hell of a time with that car

Also Valtteri out-pacing Checo in FP2 is hilarious

Checo retired after Japan and has been going through the motion ever since.

Yuki and Lawson have out paced him this weekend.

As for Texas, as much as I don't like his commentary, Kravitz nails it. Max uses the rules to the limits, opposing team principles need to stop whining about the stewards.

Now they are looking at rule changes. Just remember 4 x Merc, 3 x Ferrari, 2 x Red Bull, 1 x Renault when it comes to lobbying the sanction.
