need to learn more about this stuff
Yes. All these drivers are different, but the thing that isn’t different is they’re not out there making friends once it’s race weekend. The penalties are just that. Penalties for what happened on the track. Turn 4 is aggressive racing. I really don’t think it’s as big a deal as everyone’s making it. Turn 8. Yep. He has done it before. It’s “dangerous” but he’s kept it within FIAs limits. He didn’t yesterday and he got penalized.
It’s easy to hate max. Just as it was easy to hate Lewis when he was dominating. Unless you really think the fia has favorites and some agenda, I think it’s all media making a big deal out of what’s entertaining.

max is pushing the limits of his car. He knows he doesn’t have the best car in the grid and to get in front of cars that are better, he pushes the limits. He late brakes. He puts his car in “dangerous” spots. He races!!! He’s not a “I’ll only pass on easy drs overtake zones” kind of driver and that’s part of the reason he’s a world champion.

I know I’m not convincing anyone. Just see it differently and feel there is too much whining about max. Probably because my brother in laws a huge lando fan and I don’t hear the end of it.

I’m first a Rebull fan but 2nd lando fan. Through all this I’m more bummed that Brown and McLaren haven’t put lando #1. He should have a real shot at the title this year but with mclarens horrible team orders it looks like max has it locked up.

Max is 100% racer and it is why I like him. He cares not about the opposition, he is trying to win.

He did it in the past by completely shaming the competition because he also had the dominant car. He no longer has that dominant car but he still drives the wheels off it to get the best result he can and to hell with anyone getting in his way. He will push to defend to the limit every time. That is what racing is all about. His drive to come back to 6th after the penalty was very impressive.

It is racing, get the elbows out and rub the competition.

I will always think the best racing is when any driver - at least in the top 10 -12 - have a real chance at winning. It was boring when any one person was winning race after race. Max has come down a rung and it is great for the sport.

    Keep trying Max!

Exactly, and that's why him driving the way he did on Sunday sucks... it takes out the "any driver can win" factor when he's a liability for anyone trying to gain position

Well said. Easy for me to not be bothered by it. Im more a fan of who is supplying engines, than of specific drivers. Unless that driver is Sebastian Vettel. Im a Redbull fan because of Honda. and I will follow them to Aston Martin in 2026. My son is 8 and he cares about which driver wins. Hes #1 Lando, #2 Max, and #3 Zhou (Because he is Chinese)

I grew up around Karting when it was still popular in Ca. Worked at a track in Norcal. Traveled for Nationals etc. The people that make the biggest fuss over Max, but no one else I think have not spent enough time around race car drivers. At least any serious ones. Max's personality is not uncommon. Arrogant, cold, uninterested in anything but being the best at every step. Its also a different time. We didnt have the access to Lewis that we do to for Max. Also, people say its not fun to watch, and viewership will suffer but there was a bigger drop in ratings from 08-17 than there has been for 18-24..

In the end, witht he exception again being lewis, they are all mostly spoiled rich kids living the life. Just enjoy the racing. Ignore the soap opera the media tries to create.

While I get what you are saying, and just sticking to racing and ignoring the media you can still see differences in driving styles. I'll mention Mika Häkkinen again. He wanted to win just as much as any other driver, and was a 2-Time champion, but he didn't need to do it the way Max has, and nor did a driver you seem to like in Vettel. Drivers have varying styles, and to say that Max is more aggressive than others has its merits. I'll own my bias, because in the past I have liked aggressive drivers (see: Schumacher, and Earnhardt).

IMO, Lewis isn't the clean racer that some make him out to be. Take for example the wreck that he caused in 2021 with Max at Silverstone. Also, my feeling is that Nico only beat him in that one year to the championship is mentally he refused to be bullied off the track like in previous years. Nico came into that season with a completely different mental attitude.

Michael Schumacher was NOT a rich spoiled kid. Sure he got rich, but his parents were not super rich.

agree with you 100% What I meant by Lewis being different is just the money aspect. He didn't come from the type of family that Lando, LeClerc etc. He has for sure done his share of shady moves, and aggressive driving.
They will ALL do what it takes to win.

Yea, not rich I'm speaking of the current crop of drivers. Schu did have the advantage of dad managing a go kart track. Man, can you imagine growing up with free track time!? So cool haha

Cool! Senna was arguably the goat in F1. Had he not been tragically been killed in 94 he surely would've won many more WC titles. He got me hooked on F1 racing. From his breakout race in Monaco 1984 where he would've won had they not stopped the race early (In Prost's favor) and he was driving a back marker car. If you know his history he was not without controversy. Some moves worse then Max, but it was different back then. I was fortunately able to watch his brilliant driving at the 1990 USGP in Pheonix. Jean Alesi drove a brilliant race and had everyone covered except one, Senna. His mastery was indisputable. clip from that race https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdmiprP97BA

MS was just dominant. Also with controversy, like when he basically parked the Ferrari on the track after he had prov pole with a minute to go in Quali at Monaco - cant remember the year LOL  Too bad the Senna Schumacher battle was cut short.

Fernando Alonso did not come from a rich family nor a wealthy part of the world.
