Half tons use the same method? That should make us less worried not more. Maybe I misunderstand.

I was thinking articulation as well. It limits movement on the 3G. But it’s probably wishful thinking on my end.

I got a trail hunter. I won’t be jumping the truck. But I will be going over potholes and dirt trails at speed. Hopefully the OME shocks will help some. If it breaks it breaks and I’ll deal with it then. Right now I’ve got a lot of anxiety over theoretical issues. I went through this on my 3G and at the end of the day it was a great truck. We shall see with this one. It is what it is.

    You’re welcome!

Of course not something you should have to do a $65K dollar truck. Or any of the other trims for that matter.

The first year run or two will expose gremlins, Toyota will address them, but will take some time. More I read, the more I think I should keep my 3rd Gen until after the smoke settles.

So, I don’t see any bump stop on my brothers F150 Raptor… and that thing is tough as nails.. maybe it’s just a materials issue and not a design issue .. but I don’t really know much.

Best I get off the internet and just enjoy the truck.

Out of curiosity do half tons use frame mounted stops or just much stronger bumps inside the shock tower?

I think this issue has probably already been fixed, just like the shutter issue went away. Toyota jumps on these problems as soon as the dealer logs in for the warranty repair. They are famous for flying a team to examine the problem. Busted stuff costs them money and product reputation.

Not bummed about having no bump stops... The only issue here is poorly casted shock cap and for Toyota to come clean with this. They need to replace the cap that will perform as intended.

so if only 2 have failed out of 90,000 or so that means toyota was correct! no one actually takes their tacomas off road enough to break them! and one of the 2 that did actually break was from a suspension company basically trying to break something on the truck so they could sell people a fix....

Not sure where the stats came from, but suspension parts are crucial for off road adventures. Your correct about no one treating their Taco's rough or off-roading often, but when on remote areas, the last thing I want is to snap the shock from it's mount.

Amen. The amount of posts, threads, time and energy spent on what is a couple of parts that probably had a manufacturing defect and NO ONE else is having the problem. Icon has probably sold so many of these top hats. It will be hilarious for all those that use this so-called "fix" break something else cause by this "fix". I will just wait for mine to break and then drive it on over to the dealer and let them actually fix the so-called issue.
