Ya, I'm not sure how long it's been since my buddy had any time off. He was going to go on the little Sourgrass trip we're going on in a couple weeks. But he may be working now.

Sourgrass isn't much, but it was going to get us into the woods. Who knows, it may be closed on us now. They said they aren't just leaving it open anymore. It was closed earlier this year.

Saw a few recent reports that people have only been able to get a mile or so into Rubicon from Wentworth before they hit off chamber snow drifts and had to turn around.

That was last week, before this last snow fall.

That's what I've heard too, a few large trees down on the trail as well.
Wentworth was cleared from Gtown to ice house, that may have changed Saturday, same with Iron Mountain. It was supposed to open May 1. I think Saturday may have set things back another few weeks at least. As far as blue lakes and hope valley, what I could see through the white out didn't look too bad, there wasn't a ton of snow at red lake.

We tried CA side last year and gave up after finding a few different washouts. Going through NV side memorial weekend.

I always stop at Sidellis Brewing. Great beer and good food. Also off the main drag so never as tourist filled on busy weekends.

Indian valley is a great place to go off roading and camping. It’s remote and primitive. Not pretty like pine forests but a good place to get away. Haven’t been there for years but use to be good fishing at Indian Valley lake. From highway 20 turn on Walker Ridge Rd. and there is miles of roads/trails.

Doesn't King Range District have a requirement on bear cans? I feel like I saw something about that on a signpost the last time I was up at Shelter Cove.

They might. I do wonder tho, they said it’s due to special circumstances that they’re adding fees. But why wouldn’t it include day use?

They do require cans and warn against leaving smelly items in the vehicle. Greatest time to have a dog with you. Keeps the bears _and_ the tweekers at bay.

And Yosemite says they're at Olmstead Point with the plows. Or about 30 miles from Crane Flat.
