I have a stock 2014 off road. I like it alot, but I have to drive 2 times a month half way across the country. Sometimes in winter, so I appreciate the 4x4. My only complaint is the 2nd gen at 75-80 is just noisy.
Is the 3rd gen better insulated in the cabin and quieter or the same??
    Any guesses on the 2024?

I'm debating about going to the trouble to make mine quieter, but thinking would like a new one next summer, OFF Road with 6 foot bed this time.

I was looking into the sound deadening technology out there... but my memories of the 1980s toyota pickups were paper thin doors and firewalls has me looking at the three layers that I'm seeing in most of the youtubes and web searches... so doors, backwall and firewall as well as the flooring.... Definitely going with quieter tires though as most of my time will be over the road as well.

Just Michelin LTX Defender standard size

I have to have the radio on like 38 to hear it, it's like yelling

I road in a full size chevy and F150, and it is like night and day, the F150 is like a Cadillac quiet even at 80

One of the premium trims on the 2024s has an acoustic glass upgrade listed. At least my truck 90% of the cabin noise seems to be the windshield.

I also appreciate a quiet cabin. Having done floor/doors/roof and back wall, I can say that it's substantially better and I can keep the radio at very low volumes and talking on the phone is easy. the windshield(wind) and firewall(tire) noise is still there, as expected. But, with the windows up it's very quiet compared to what it used to be. I would use a multi layered approach to quieting your down your truck. Buying a new truck for a little less road noise is almost like buying a new truck to get 3mpg better fuel mileage. Not sure it's worth the cost of car payments.

@Chris(NJ) You have a nice build. My truck looks like yours before the mods, same color etc. Can you provide any more details on what. you did with floor/doors/roof and back wall? How big a pain?

Thanks! If you flip through my build page, I think I have it all laid out. All panels started w/ a base layer of damplifier. Then it was layering on top of that based on what area you're working on. Working with a second set of hands for the headliner would've been nice. But it's still relatively easy by yourself. The trim pieces around the seat bolts are a tight fit w/ so much new material under the carpet. Otherwise, the doors are very straight forward. If I remember right, fitting the rear panel wall was also a tight fit.
The key to it is having patience and trimming where necessary. Test fit the panels and do any necessary trimming of the top layer of deadening.

I also did the project over the course of a couple years. Started with doors. Then I think I did the roof, then back wall and finally the floor. I wish I had unobstructed access to the firewall. I'd love to layer that b/c I think it would make a huge difference. But I don't want to pull the dash off.

There is no ordering info out yet. Anything presented would be speculation. December is when the pricing and configurator should be live. Check then.

Doesn’t really matter if it’s a standalone option, no dealer is going to order just that option on an otherwise base truck
