I like the look of it. Looks a hell of a lot better than that hideous 4th gen Tacoma.

Still not convinced the power train being used will match the durability and longevity of the previous Land Cruisers but we will see.

I'm really digging the 1958/Base edition trim. I'll be in the market in the next 2-4yrs so I've been keeping an eye on all the new Yotas. My taco is pretty much just a weekend toy for the beach at the moment, but I'd like something a tad nicer for a daily, that I can eventually retire as my weekend toy.

Looks great, as much as you hear people say...They need to bring the 70 series to the US...the minute they put that out to the US market, with the bare bones interior that it has, at the 74K price tag...all you will hear is....blah blah, I'm not paying 75 K for a SUV without heated air conditioned seats that rides like a two horse wagon....lol

Lol exactly...you can't make everyone happy, there's always a few who like to cry about things just to cry.

BTW I'd pay extra for a 70 series  :D

Honestly the automatic gear box thing looks horrible, it should have been like on the side of the steering wheel where the wipers usually are

Ya the 70 series just won't do well in the American market
I've heard that it was cuz they couldn't pass some safety stuff, most likely a crash test

What I found most annoying about the new prado is that we got a 4 cylinder gas engine meanwhile the rest of the world have a diesel engine option too, can't remember what engine but I think it's the 2.8 td 1gd something

The 4 cylinder turbo is plenty powerful. Unfortunately there's no data on this engine longer term. But what Prado do you speak of?

    It's almost exactly a Defender...

Those of you who poo poo the 4 cylinder turbo: go test drive an XC90 or 60 with the B6 engine. 2.0 forced induction (technically twin-charged) mild hybrid, similar to the new LC horsepower. Car weights are similar, and acceleration is better than any 4Runner. Towing is still 5k too.

The B8 plug in hybrid is much faster, but that's pushing 450 combined horsepower, so not really fair.

Hybrid is North America's answer to diesel. The LC will be hybrid-only in the North American market.
