2024 NASCAR THREAD

I almost got kicked out of a KB Facebook group for say Waste Management should sponsor all the short tracks. It’s not even remotely close. That being said Gibbs and RFK figured it out. Penske and Hendrick seemed one car that could run top 10. It’s like they tried completely different set ups hoping to hit. I think Gibbs nailed it and RFK completely wiffed at what everyone one else was thinking and hit pay dirt. Then it’s like the 3,8,22,24,48 all had them same idea and completely missed.

 

KB mentioned on his post that they "rebuilt" the car 3 times and struggled with grip. It seemed to me like he had some short run speed but it went away pretty quickly.

As for Waste Management. It's funny you mention that. The Red Wings just opted to get a sponsorship patch on their jerseys and have lost every single game since. The patch also happens to be a trash company.

 

That short run speed when he pitted and got the fresh tires when he was in the back was pretty awesome. Thought maybe he would have got shit house lucky running long in that long run and wind up mid pack. That was his only hope.

 

Yeah I saw he passed a couple of cars on that last run but it wasn't long before he lost all those spots and dropped from the lead pack and then ended up a lap down again. Hopefully Bristol will be better but I'm not holding my breath. It has higher banking but he was a non-factor last year and finished 20th in the fall.

 

Bristol is one of his best tracks. The dirt is gone. Who knows what’s gonna happen the I don’t think the new gen has ran on the normal surface yet. Maybe the Chicago Street race could be on dirt one year and have a mud bog event

 

They run the normal surface every fall though. Maybe the day will make a difference vs night but, like I said, last year he was a non-factor in the fall race and finished 20th.

 

Looks like Allen is out as the head announcer for NBC. They are bringing in Leigh Diffey who is Australian with a pretty strong accent to booth. He is the anchor calling the Indy car series. Jr. is gone, now Rick Allen. I was not a huge Allen fan but didn't mind him. I can't wrap my head around hearing an almost British accent calling a NASCAR race. LOL... Gonna have to listen on MRN or PRN I guess. I am not a fan of Burton either in the booth so NBC is looking pretty thin.
I would not be surprised to see Allen make the move with Dale Jr. I also suspect Greg Ives will move with Jr. also.

 

Rick Allen isn’t fired though, right? He just got promoted to call the Summer Olympics this year, so Diffy is stepping in for a bit, if I read correctly.

 

The report I read said he was replacing Rick Allen in his NASCAR role but who knows. Most everything is click bate anyway.

I read that Allen is not under contract after this year but Duffey is and NBC loses Indy car after this year.

 

KB 2nd fastest in practice. Granted practice is a joke anymore and he seemed to be slower in the 5 and 10 laps averages, but still. Refreshing to think he may have some speed on a short track in an RCR car.

I don’t understand why they don’t black flag some like Kyle b when he’s running slower than everybody else. To maybe save a caution

 

At least it isn't 2008 Indy. But these guys are remembering what tire wear was like with 800 HP. Have to manage it.

 

2008 indy was definitely a shit show.
