I watched the 8 camera and he was like Superman on those fresh tires. I was hoping for another overtime because he gained 12 spots in those two laps.

I still don't know how they haven't invested in a more legit high speed camera for finish purposes. I do love watching Kansas races though!

I just realized he ended up 8th. I feel kinda bad I wrote him off and thought there was an error with the results:rofl:

Yeah that line isn’t exactly straight and looks like the bottom is 4” further up the track.

That line is a wire embedded in the track that talks to transponders mounted to the exact same location on each car. Part of the single source chassis that is the same in every car. All the things you can see do not matter. It’s the scoring data that does. They know where these cars are in relation to scoring loops down the a thousandths of an inch. The 5 won that race.

I saw a guy blaming Brad K's Crew Chief for taking 4 instead of two and taking them away from a shot at a top 5. 4 tires didn't seem to be an issue for Busch or Truex during that overtime.

It would still be cool to see that finish at something like 1,000 frames per second. I also don't believe that camera is 100% straight so it could give that illusion. Either way we'd be able to see which car got there first much clearer.

The line on the track is a prop. Nothing more than to give the viewer something to look at. Nothing official about it. Everything that scores the cars and who got to the line first is invisible data. They want to create the illusion that it's the first to the line for the viewer but it is all wires and transponders. The camera is something fox sets up to try and best capture that for the viewer but nothing to do with officiating the race. at the end of the day, the transponder in the 5 reported that it tripped that loop a fraction before the 17.

I do feel for Chris B. That dude is a beast. I find it hard to not pull for him, even though he is in a Ford. He gets the most out of what he is given for sure. I would love to see him in some good equipment. The guy is low key and a class act. When Dale Jr. was trying to bring back North Wilkesboro he invited everyone out to a track cleanup day to try and show the potential of the track. He said that Chris B is the only current driver that showed up. He said a pickup rolled up and he pulled a weed eater off the back and proceeded to cut weeds and debris for the entire day. Jr. said he thanked him for coming and that he shook his hand and said of course I am here. You said you needed help so I came. Dude really gives the vibes that he is like the old school drivers back in the day.

Yes to all of it but the transponder part. According to Eric Estepp, the transponder is actually at the rear of the cars which is why the 17 showed up on the pylon as the winner. As it turns out, I was somewhat mistaken. The official finish photo posted by NASCAR was taken by their official high speed camera and ultimately determined the winner since that official line is marked, much like the Kentucky Derby.

You are correct. The actual wire in the track is located several feet before the painted line however to correspond to the location of where the transponders are located. Essentially when the front of the car is at the line the transponder is also. In addition to that the camera at the start finish line has a laser and can easily identify which car trips it first. Long story short. The painted line is not official. In this case to verify NASCAR used the laser to see who clipped that point first as the transponders matched data from what I understand. The Camaro's pointy nose paid off. I guess the official line is actually a laser that pretty much corresponds with the painted line but the laser is the official finish fine. From what I understand.

It seems Tony has moved on. He seems 100% in on going in a strait line now. I have no idea why. Has not been any money in NHRA in decades. I guess he likes it and can afford to play. At this point it seems SHR would be better off without him.

So, to be clear, Tony is dipping and selling his two charters. Meanwhile, is Gene going to consolidate with FRM to make it a four-car garage?
That would be a HUGE capital infusion for FRM. Honestly, SHR was a clown show from the start. SHR put it on the map, and Harvick legitimized the team's legacy. The Chevy to Ford move was almost a heel turn for Tony & Harvick. The whole Danica experiment, and revolving high-profile pay drivers. The performance falloff with the new car has been HUGE. They made their mark. Cup Championship, Xfinity championship(s?), and solid contenders week after week.
