I am glad to see the 24 made it in after the 20 Pulled a Chastain move after NASCAR said no more of that BS. On the other hand I am So Glad I will be Deer Hunting next weekend where I will have no cell service and no NASCAR after todays race and all the BS.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
When you stack the stats for the 5 and 22 it really shows how ridiculous the playoff is:
    Larson:
Races: 34, keep in mind he missed the 600.
    Wins: 6
    Top 5: 14
    Top 10: 17
    Poles: 5
    DNF: 5
    Laps Led: 1,687
    Average Start: 8.912
    Average Finish: 13.176

Logano: 6 top 5's, 307 laps led and an average finish of worse than 17th.
    Races: 35
    Wins: 3
    Top 5: 6
    Top 10: 12
    Poles: 3
    DNF: 6
    Laps Led: 307
    Average Start: 12.314
    Average Finish: 17.571

This is also why I believe that manufacturers are losing interest in the sport. The cars do not have anything in common with what relates to the customer and who wants to invest millions into a sport where a manufacturer runs like shit all year but backs into a few wins and is hailed a champion. Yes I know that GM has a solid lead in the manufacturers points but none of that gets any coverage. In the mind of the majority of fans it is whatever logo is on the car of the drivers points championship.

To close it out. If we were still using the original points system the points going into the last race would look like this:
    9: 4,671 points
    20: -13
    45: -78
    24: -95
5: -143, keep in mind the missed race.
    17: -335
    12: -352
    1: -364
    48: -365
    6: -399
Take note that the 22 is not in the top 10. He is 14th, 620 points back.

We all know who the real Champion is at the end of the year. They should shit can the Allstar race. Call a season points Champion. Then for whoever wants to watch have their stupid fucken Top 16 racer for the Allstar Driver Championship so the people who can’t win a season points Championship can have their stupid fucken title and participation trophy.

That's a good idea. Run the all-star at the end of the season with 16 drivers and make some stupid payout for the end of each tier points so they can justify tearing up a bunch of equipment like everyone seems to want to see. At least that way the work from an entire season still counts.

The sport should be concerned that Larson did not even look like he cared that he did not make the final 4. I don't even think the drivers respect this format.

I made this point earlier aboot I don't think Kenseth deserved his cup championship...

"For the most part, at least at the outset, NASCAR fans hated the Chase format, feeling it was an artificial way to crown a champion rather than the title being rightfully won by the driver who earned the most points across the entire season, as had been the case for the previous 55 years"

But this is what happens, when this happens...

    https://www.autoweek.com/racing/nas...e-changed-nascar-championship-format-forever/

The pendulum swings equally, when in a vacuum..

There has to be a middle ground...ain't right then, ain't right now

    Work in progress...
Nascar should have gave the 1 and 3 the mover over flag at around 7 laps remaining. Since Nascar didn't officiate the race correctly, the 1,3,20,23 are DQed for cheating. The 24 will have to live with advancing via the cheat. Winner's never get caught cheating and looser's don't know how cheat correctly.

The Whole New Champion System Sucks Just. It should go back the way it was, The best driver during the season wins. It doesn't matter if he is the known winner 3/4 of the way through the season or not He Wins.

The 4 of them should have to sit out Daytona next year opening weekend.

NASCAR went woke, The new Format is like Everyone gets a Trophy. It almost makes it easier for them at the end of the season. The Stage Racing SUCKS. You don't have to go out compete hard to win every Pole and every Race like they used to be win the Championship.

I'm finally back to civilization. I couldn't get a phone signal the entire weekend. The weather was perfect. Racing was great. Shenanigans were obvious to those in the crowd and blatant to those with scanners. People were PISSED in the crowd. Blaney gave the drive of his life, like last year's Fall event. It was cool to see him on long runs. Burton qualified well and held his ground before sinking and going to the garage. I was at the shop yesterday and asked Len Wood what happened. He said a detent spring in the transaxle failed, so every time Harrison shifted to 4th, it went straight to 5th, which isn't needed at Martinsville. He said they only run the 4 gears there. I'm glad we made the trek. I'm also glad I only eat those hotdogs once a year!

As for the shenanigans, in my opinion, DQ the 23, 1, 3, omit all Hendrick teams from the Final 4, and put Denny in for Phoenix.

DAMN! LOL, before they do that I would rather see them only run 3 for the trophy. If the 24 wins it's completely tinted but I don't think you can just advance the 11. The 5 and the 9 did not play any shenanigans. What I really want to know is how in the hell the 22 got the supposed mileage he did in Vegas. And I want to see that 12 car get torn down and inspected.

I'm not a Denny fan, but they could do it here if they made a spot for Jeff Gordon back in the day. This is NASCAR's second time it has advanced the 24 in the playoffs. It's also no secret that Jim France and Rick Hendrick do a lot of business together outside of NASCAR. Industry folks are already discussing checks cut from Hendrick & Chevrolet to other teams ("The Deal"). Blaney had the long-run car all day yesterday. He didn't qualify well or restart that hot. But once he got into the top 5, he could hang on and advance over long runs, especially toward the end of the runs when other cars started to fall off. I think NASCAR did well with the tires. The falloff was pretty apparent. Also- the rubber buildup was wild. I'm used to seeing marbles and shreds similar to bubblegum, but the track was littered with fist-sized wads of rubber throughout Sunday's race. That and the buildup of soot and rubber on the sides of the cars was cool. It took me back to the early 90s when these cars would just be heaps by the end of 500 laps at Martinsville.

Edit: Brake glow is common here, and brakes tend to start failing toward the end of the race. Saturday night, too, with a couple of wheel fires, this was apparent. I believe Reddick had an issue Sunday. Blaney didn't seem to have as much glow. Perhaps he was running his brake bias more evenly across all three wheels than other cars and saving his front brakes. I saw some guys doing this Saturday night and others with glowing rear rotors during the mid-race stint.

At the end of the day out of the 1, 3, 20, 23 and 24. Only one of those 5 drivers did nothing wrong. And that was Willie B. He did not manipulate anything, you did not hear anyone on the radio say anything other than what he could not give up. Now, obviously Chevrolet had some team orders but what happened with the 1 and the 3 is no different than anything that happens at every plate race. It's a bad look but it is part of the sport and always has been.
No doubt that HMS has a better relationship with NASCAR than other teams but in turn HMS brings the majority of the $ to the sport. At the end of the day NASCAR wants money. HMS spends more than anyone else to help make that happen. Back in the day NASCAR favored Dale Sr and RCR. For a period it was Roush. You get what you put in and you lean towards the people who are good partners to you. That is how business works. Does anyone here think that the 23 had a tire go down? Do you think that Toyota was not behind that? The 6 could have dive bombed any of them and pushed his way through but all the Ford teams were screaming for none of them to cause a caution because the 12 was leading and the last thing they wanted was HMS cars on a green white checkered with new tires. Every manufacturer was doing the same shit. At the end of the day NASCAR did not call anyone for any of that. All they called was a safety violation on the 20 for doing what they told everyone they could not do. I grew up 1.5 hours away from that track and have been at that race 20 plus times. I understand it well.
NASCAR created this with the team and manufacture alliances so it is now much more common place. How many times coming to the line at Talladega do you hear a driver being told not to push someone because they have a different logo on the hood. This is no different.
