The 1 and 3 just blocked for the 24 out of the kindness of their own hearts. The 24 is pure as the wind blown snow. What a Joke!

 

So, the 24, being blatantly assisted by the 1 and the 3, and who are penalized for doing such, skates away scot free.

Spingate 2013 all over again.

in Spingate, when Truex benefited but was not part of the tomfoolery, NASCAR removed him from playoff contention. My question to NASCAR would be "Why change now? Why isn’t Byron removed?"

 

I think the difference is neither the 1 or 3 were actual teammates, unlike Boyers spin for Truex.
If it had been a team car (cars), as opposed to a Manufactuer alliance, then Byron would have been penalized.

Hopefull NASCAR will change the format. Maybe insure the Car with the most wins is in the Champioship race reguardless of the performance in the playoffs.
In the event of a tie for most wins, then go by total season points if the Team does not win in the final round. Harvick a few years ago and Larson this year, should absolutely have been part of the Championship Race.
It would still leave the possibilty for a team with no wins to back into the Championship. But at least the best consistent performer all year would have a chance.

Why would you penalize the 24? He was out there doing all he could to keep those cars behind him. He cannot control what the drivers behind him do or decide not to do. NASCAR did not penalize the 20 because the 23 gave up over 2.5 seconds on the last lap and Freddy Kraft was telling Bubba the points picture for the last 5 laps. They fined the 23. If the 20 had not driven around the wall like a dipshit he would have advanced.
Overall HMS played this about as strait as one could. The 9 could have punted the 5. The 5 could have held up the 12 and Chase sure as shit could have punted the 12 or not given him the inside and drove him up the track. The 24 had plenty of opportunities to punt the 12 for the less than gentlemanly move when he punted the 16 into him (this is the reason the 24 was struggling after all). Brad could have punted any one of 5 cars to get by the blockade but Ford would have not been happy with that. Everyone wants to feel bad for the 20 but that dude came in over 30 points to the good and ran like total shit.
I would rather see a car that came to at least compete when it mattered advance than someone who had the easiest route and just did not show up.
