I think 10% is still rare in this market and this gen especially on a TRD OR Prem which out of all the configs seem to sell the best so far. Precovid 10% was more the norm, but endless inventory, maybe try shooting for 7-8% or just wait it out. The economy looks to be headed or already in a recession (really depression looking at some numbers not spout out by the talking heads) and the industry is about to be in a tailwind with banks tightening lending, repos up, sales down and rates still high with new inventory still being built. I'd wait it out. Most industry experts right now are saying not to buy right now.

Some places if you can find them will offer big discounts to truck that aren't selling. Attached from a couple days ago of a $4K discount straight off the bat. That's around 10% from what I see.

Just piggy backing off of my own post here. I found another similar TRD OR that was "discounted" a little over 6% from a 2nd dealer. Went in to negotiate. Tried to get them to take off an additional $1k which would've been about a 8% discount. I would've been happy and walked out with a new car but they didn't want to do it.

What was scummy was that as soon as we sat down to talk numbers, they updated the online discount and lowered the discount by $1.5k, thus raising the advertised price by $1.5k. I pushed back and they finally admitted that the price was increase earlier in the morning. It was not. They did it literally before sitting me down after the test drive. Then they backtracked and honored the original amount but I pushed for an addition $1k b/c of that. I have a feeling that given the chance, they would reveal that the "discount" was rebates that I wouldn't qualify for and raising the price even further. Lesson learned - always take screenshots.

Anyway, if anyone knows about the whole "non-negotiating" dealer from that 1st dealer in my original question, please let me know. Is this policy legit and they don't negotiate? If so, if I want to buy from them, do I just wait for a car and price that I like?

    Thanks,

A “non-negotiating” dealer has that ‘rule’ because it only benefits them. I would find another dealer. It’s kind of a tactic to make you think you have no leverage and give up. If I were to go car shopping again, and heard that, I would immediately get up and walk out, and not care if they chase me down ((they might negotiate)) or not.

and its fine if its a legit policy like carvana or whatever where the price u c is the price u pay. Who cares. If you don’t have any interest in trying to get a deal or save money, then a “non-negotiable” dealer where you just pay their list price & all those sweet sweet extra profits sounds logical to me.

Paying MSRP is not great right now. Dealers are marking these down 1.5k on their websites and people are closing deals 5k below MSRP. Find a dealer with a lot of inventory who wants to move trucks. Research what the dealer invoice is for the truck you want. Walk away if you can't get the price you want. These things aren't rare so shop around.

Is there an easy way to figure out what the dealer invoice/cost is?

What I did was, talked to a local broker, once he gave you the MSRP and will discounted a little bit (in my case he deducted $2000) as his personal discount, then I asked what is the Out the Door (OTD), then i asked for another $2k discounts to the OTD, he will give you an alibi of that is the lowest dealership can give, but he said I will try to ask them. Then after a while he will congratulate you that he got it down for me… that is how I do it.

If it’s true that they really don’t negotiate then it’s just another tactic they made up. They can do whatever they want. It’s certainly not a Toyota rule. They already are negotiating because they’re offering 5% off. Make sure that is truly the MSRP and does not include any dealer add-ons or other stupid dealer fees, etc. Pretty annoying with that bait and switch 1.5k. Good for you for calling them on it. As crappy as it is, I don’t really have feelings when it comes to a transaction. Only thing that matters is the final number. Currently 5% seems to be a pretty good discount. 10% has been done but is very rare. You might never get there.

Here are the invoice prices from 2016. I would imagine the percentage differences are similar.

Waiting on an ordered TRD Sport. When I was working with the sales people they noted a $295 adder for Nitrogen.. Is this an all over thing now? i told them I would never pay that, and if I did, I would only pay for the 20 N2 percent displaced. Confused the hell out of them

Alright guys, here're the final numbers on my new TRD OR with the Premium package. Just picked it up today
    1. 2024, TRD Off Road, Blue Crush, Auto, 5ft bed
    2. MSRP - $53,255 (with options outlined in #3)
    3. Options - Mudguards, TRD Off Road Premium Package
    4. Cost of dealer add ons- no dealer add ons
    5. Price before Tax Title License (TTL) including incentive/rebate - $49,105
    6. Discount 1-(#5/#2)*100=% off MSRP - 7.8% off MSRP
    7. Incentive (rebate/customer cash) - no incentive
    8. Price Out The Door (OTD) - $54,534.68 after TTL
    9. Trade in vehicle(year, make, model, trim) - None
    10. Kelley blue book trade-in value - N/A
    11. Trade allowance(amount given for trade) - N/A
    12. Date purchased - 09/09/24
    13. State purchased - WA
How did I do? WA sale tax and registration was a b*tch. I was shooting for at least 8% off the TSRP but settled so I didn't have to drive 3 hours to another dealer with an equivalent model.

This basically new trd pro bid to 59k. Then add a couple grand for the buyers fee. Still not enough to get a sale. MSRP was 66.6k. Seems like these are not going to hold there values like the last gen. Hopefully no ones paying sticker anymore or especially over msrp. That would be a pretty big hit if you paid sticker and taxes.
