Still working out MANY of the details at this point, but we're almost/only about 3 months away so I wanted to get this going!

    What - Solar Eclipse Trip
When - Totality is about 3:30 PM in the Northeast on MONDAY April 8. I am thinking go somewhere Sunday mid day, hang out, BS around camp. Hang out Monday, BS around camp or do whatever, figure out where for the specifics. We'll probably have a plan if people stick around Monday night, but I do not plan to.
Where - TBD, and that's why we need to plan this now. We have a few ideas, near Moosehead lake in Maine. Potentially Burlington, VT. I am suspecting that Burlington and Niagara will be bananas, so probably avoid those. This time of year, it is still mud season, and potentially still under a lot of snow, too, that far north! I don't want to go to Little Rock....

Don't threaten me with a good time. Best BBQ I've found, Brown's on S. Lamar.

The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
Following. I talked with my wife about finding a place to go up to the Adirondacks to see it. I've seen online that small towns up there are already concerned with too many out of towners showing up and overcrowding the backcountry at a time of year that can't really handle large numbers of people.

Well, I'm right here in northern VT already. I'd be interested in a meetup somewhere with a few hooligans.

There is a small planetarium at the Fairbanks Museum in St. Johnsbury VT. I'm sure they'll be doing something fun for the eclipse but I haven't looked at their calendar yet to see.

Just FYI for your searches - I am just SW of Lake Carmi in NW Vermont, dead center for the crossover. The local state park at the lake is not open until later in May FOR CAMPING, probably no others either. But in theory you can go there for the day and hang out, be out by sunset.

Sorry, that would have been a neat spot for a camping meet, but if it was open I'm sure a lot of others would have already booked it up. I hear rumors of many places in the Burlington area were already getting booked this past spring. Probably crazy amount of accidents, road kill, and bar fights incoming.... Maybe find a farmer someone knows, to camp on a field, before planting?

Top of 105 hill north of Jay might be neat too, if you're up near the north center of VT.

Basics. Tires, painted headlighes, UHLM, baby winch in the bed, and heated mirrors :)
I’m in as of now, sounds like a good time!

If it ends up not being a supersize group, maybe Red Pine (the airstrip we stayed at) would be a nice place to camp. Just be aware it’s recently reopened so be sure to follow all the signage and don’t hang out on the runway. I’ll keep my ear on on the local flying pages and gauge how busy it may or may not be. I’m thinking of flying in myself lol
