Gaia actually has a really cool overlay map showing the path of totality and then the percentage of totality in bands

    You're screwed.

Looks like San Diego California should still get 50%. Thanks for the info.

And would you like to test this for us?

    1. It needs to be 100% totality, not 97%, not 98%, not 99%; 100% precise totality. Otherwise, you will have irreversible damage, think of the boy with the magnifying glass and the ant.

    2. Its for a brief, few seconds that you can achieve this - are you aware of that precise time without the glasses? Or would you just prefer to not be an idiot and wear solar glasses and save your eyes?

    Safety (nasa.gov)
Also this.... "Do NOT look at the Sun through a camera lens, telescope, binoculars, or any other optical device while wearing eclipse glasses or using a handheld solar viewer — the concentrated solar rays will burn through the filter and cause serious eye injury."

so if anyone else is like me and has some stuff to do before the trip, check the weather. Decent tomorrow, rest of the week looks crappy. So tomorrow the tent goes on and i hook up the solar panel. Fortunately that's all quick and i did about 6 hours of work Friday.

We went by the site this weekend and there was some snow but definitely not a show stopper. Should be a good weekend.

@BadDNA we're hitting up Hill Farmstead Saturday around noon, then going out to the campsite.

I'm fortunate enough to have exclusive access to a 10,000 acre private parcel up in Northern Maine (NW of Moosehead Lake). I'll be heading up Saturday or Sunday.

I'll be out skiing all weekend if this storm pans out. Are you camping in that spot up near the border where we started the Half-baked Adventure?

Yes sir! We were up there this weekend, checked it out. Has some snow. Will have some more. But it'll be a good spot, we think.

It should be a good spot and hopefully off the beaten path enough that you won't have a crowd to deal with. Traffic getting home is going to be a bear though.

It's going to be either no issue (114 down to the interstate from there) or chaos. I think once we get to the interstate it won't be too bad. But, I could also be completely wrong.

I'm taking 91 down to 11 on Monday, then backroads to Saratoga, I'm hopeful it's out of the way enough that all the traffic from 7 down to 4 won't bother with it
